Our puppies are born in our house, raised in a large run and from the age of about 5 weeks, they are allowed to run, supervised, in wide open spaces which greatly enhances their physical and mental development. We believe in providing ongoing support and assistance to our puppy buyers for the life of the puppy. We will always take back a dog we have bred if for any reason the owner is unable to keep him/her.

RRs are a wonderful breed, but are not for everyone so please consider carefully before you buy one and feel free to contact us for breed information. We can draw on over 40 years experience!

I've been involved in Ridgebacks since 1985. As well as showing my dogs, we participate in Agility, Obedience, Rally-O and Endurance Tests - many of my dogs have titles on both ends of their names. In 2015 I started Lure Coursing, a sport they enjoy very much.

I've titled 2 home bred Grand Champions and 1 Supreme Champion, who are also Best in Show & Runner Up Best in Show All Breeds winners. My dogs frequently attain placings at Specialities and All Breed shows.

I'm an ANKC judge for Agility, Jumping & Games events, Endurance Tests, as well as Lure Coursing. I'm also an Obedience, Rally & Agility instructor.

Temperment is all important and I aim to breed sound dogs that can do anything. My Ridgebacks have also been photographic models and appeared on stage in a Ballet. All breeding stock is Hip & Elbow Scored, tested for DM & JME and Heart tested

Our main success started with our first big winning dog, Kudu who was a multi best in show winner at all breed level. His many wins include major shows in Melbourne. To this date he is the only ridgeback to win best of breed at 3 different royals and have both placing's in groups including best in group at Hobart Royal.

Breeding quality RR litters occasionally for show, companion and hunting .Kudu is the number one top winning Rhodesian Ridgeback for the past 4 years in his home state of Victoria,and has been in the top 5 in the hound group on Dogzonline for the past 4 years.
Our current Boy Sup & Gr Ch Kinshasa Bronzed Aussie ( Bondi ) was number #1 In Victoria Dogzonline & currently leads the national Ridgeback point score. Our newest memebr to our kennel is GrCh Kinhsasa Golden Firefox ( Sansa ) has taken many in group awards from limited showing. After a 2 year break I bred Sansa to Ch Caprivi run the Gauntlet ( IKE ) and the result was one puppy who we called HULK. We will run this boy on and see how he develops . At his first 3 shows Hulk has won Baby of Group at major show and Baby of show at the RRCV ch show 2019. We are expecting big things from this young boy.

We have been Showing and Breeding Rhodesian Ridgebacks for 30 years, producing multiple Champions, Grand Champions, Best in Show and Best in Specialty Show winners. In saying that, our dogs are a loved part of our family first and foremost. They have stolen not just our couches and our bed, but our hearts.

At Otesha Rhodesian Ridgebacks, we don't have time to build commercial looking websites, because when we aren't working to support our dogs we are spending time with them, they're our fur-family. We don't have a regular abundance of puppies, as we are not running a kennel, our dogs are our loved pets.

However when we do breed, all our Ridgebacks are x-rayed and scored for Hip & Elbow Dysplasia prior to the breeding taking place. They are also DNA tested for Degenerative Myelopathy (Clear) & JME (Clear).
Our puppies live inside our house where they learn to be part of the family and leave our home vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and come with an 18kg bag of food, bowl, collar & lead, bed, cuddle teddy, toys, treats, worming tablet and an information booklet.
More importantly you receive true lifetime support which includes phone, message and email support, and free training sessions for anyone who lives within an hour travel, or is willing to travel to us.

As we believe Ridgebacks should have proven soundness, "Sabre" was the first Ridgeback in NSW to gain an Endurance Title. Notable wins include Best in Show at Specialty, Best in Show Hound Specialty, two RU Best in Show Specialty and three times Dog Challenge at Specialty. Of course multiple Best in Group and Class in Show wins at All Breeds level.

Following in the tradition of Sabre is our wonderful Ch Marmatia Gunella Gusto (Gus). Gus is the Best of Breed Winner at the 2011 Sydney Royal and Best in Show Specialty winner 2011. He lives with our two champion girls Peggy and Safi and our up and coming Disa.

My dogs have excellent hip and elbow scores , tested for DM and JME , heart clear, and are all sound and of good temperament.

We are situated in the Bay of Plenty, at the bottom of the Kaimai ranges. It is here we live on 5 acres of grounds with our Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
Breeding true to type, sound Ridgebacks with great temperaments is our main aim as well as enjoying the show dog scene.
All dogs used in my breeding program have been hip and elbow scored for dysplasia, DNA tested for Degenerative Myelopathy, Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy & the Dilute (blue) gene.
I pride my self on the time & effort that goes in to finding the right breeding lines, temperament and dogs to compliment my females. I have imported three males and a female all from well respected breeders or specialty judges for the breed. I also import frozen semen to offer myself and others a fantastic family pet or show dog.
Dogs I have bred are active in Agility, Rally-o, obedience and the show scene.
All puppies are socialised with our family (we have four children) and of course our other dogs and friends that visit.

I have been involved with this Majestic breed since 1995 but, it all started in the mid 70's when I was much younger. My Uncle introduced me to his Rhodesian Ridgeback- via film and photos, from when he lived and worked in Rhodesia, (now Zimbabwe) with the locals and their families. I fell instantly in love at the beauty of his dog 'Caesar' and the wonderful stories he would tell me.

As it would turn out- 20 years later, when I was to purchase my first dog, it had to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback.

My first 3 Rhodesian Ridgebacks have since gone to the Rainbow Bridge and it is their qualities I strive to achieve in my breeding program.

Exceptional temperament, soundness and beauty are the key elements to selectively produce the occasional litter- either for the show ring or for loving family pets. All dogs used for breeding have had their hips and elbows x-rayed and scored. Also a full DNA profile is done for each dog prior to breeding to check for health issues that can affect Rhodesian Ridgebacks- i.e. DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), JME (Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy). Puppies are checked at birth (and then weekly) for Dermoid Sinus. Full breeder support is given to each and every puppy bred by me, I am always available to answer any questions or help out when needed.

I breed selectively and lovingly raise my babies in a home environment using the "Puppy Culture" method, with all the care and attention that is necessary for happy, healthy & well socialised puppies. I provide ongoing support for my puppy owners.
