At Isilwane Kennels we breed Ridgebacks - not dogs. But we're also home of MBIS/MRUBIS/BISS Aust Gr/Am Ch Ridgesetter Fly the Flag ET SC, aka Electra the Wicked Whippet. A consistent performer in the show ring, she finished her 20km ET with ease and came back to us in 2006 after spending 18 months holding her own in the US in conformation (Specialty Select & Multiple Group placings) and her new game - lure coursing. These days she is semi-retired from the show ring but her 11 Champion children (so far) and now grandchildren are "flying her flag proudly". If you've got and Isilwane Whippet - you've got Electra on your pedigree - what more could you want.

And the Whippets are multiplying (but don't tell the Ridgebacks) - we must have fed them after midnight and let them get wet!!! Also resident at Isilwane are Charlie (BISS Gr Ch Tezer Feel Free to Stare), Zest (BIS/RUBIS Ch Isilwane Flag Bearer ET) and our return package Nugget (RUBISS Ch Isilwane Jolly Roger) who is now proving his worth in the whelping box. Joining her mother and older siblings "Vesna" (it is ALL about her) - Ch Ridgesetter Maid In USA (IID). Then there is the second generation of Isilwane - Ch Isilwane Ice Age (Diego), Isilwane Ice Queen (Patches),Isilwane Tia Dalma (Calypso) & Pyrate (Isilwane Rapscallion) & Isilwane Lickety Split (Gracie).

I started my obsession with Whippets over 25 years ago when handling for friend while at the time owning and showing German Shepherds and Dobermanns. In 1995 I was fortunate to begin my own journey with this wonderfully versatile breed.

Mychaka Kennels currently campaigns; BIS/RUBIS Aust Ch Shenace All In At Hogarth (Imp NZ) with the girls in hot pursuit Corridale Cover Story, Cheshunt Crème Tequila and the very new addition Isilwane Lie To Me.

Our very first Whippet was by the famous Eng/Aust Ch Dondelayo Statue (Imp UK), out of Eng/Aust Ch Cherrydown Anonymous of Dondelayo (Imp UK) back in 1978 - he made up his title easily, and forged a bond with my daughter Michaela as a 'Toddler handler' dog in his later years.

After many years of not being active in the breed, despite always having a Whippet or two around, Michaela is now once again involved with this wonderful breed. Thanks to Frank & Lee Pieterse, we have a lovely band of Whippets living with us, including the National Specialty BIS winning Ch Statuesque Scarpetta. Our first homebred litter in over 20 years has so far produced four class in group winners, two of which have also gone on to win classes in show.

I am a small kennel & have been showing Whippets for over 5 years now. I breed for the correct standard height in a Whippet, type & outgoing personalities.
I am registered Whippet breeder with Dogs Queensland. In that short period I have spent most of that time learning pedigrees, going over dogs, talking, & learning from those in my breed and those outside it. I raise each litter as if I gave birth to them & spend an equal amount of time finding them the best loving forever homes. I only put puppies on this planet that I think will be the healthiest (mentally and physically) & nicest examples of their breed. I continually support each family who choose one of our puppies & let them know they are now a part of my extended family. I am there if one needs to come back &I will aggressively pursue the return of one of my dogs if it's in the wrong place. I support The Whippet Club of Queensland in rescue and education. I hold them when they arrive and leave this world. I share my knowledge & socialize my dogs so that they will be the advertisement for our dedication. I do not keep track of the money, the time & the love that we put into my dogs, it would not be a true measure of how I feel. The price I charge for my puppies is never for profit, but for investment in the next generation. I am not ashamed of who I am.….. I work hard at being a good dog person and encouraging others to be the same. I am a breeders & foremost a show dog person and I am proud of it.

We jointly own the US imports, Aust and Am Ch Countrywinds Whozever and Aust Ch Chelsea Let Your Light Shine with Molly Rule- Steele. Our current kennel stars are the daughter and son respectively of these imports. Our star bitch, Aust Ch Piaffe Rapt in Ribbons, has been proving herself in the whelping box with some promising progeny starting to make their mark in the show ring.
