Aust Ch Maggiormente Cardea
Cardea inherited a great topline, lovely head, great rear end and a beautiful temperament.
Cardea Suffered bloat in late 2006 and made a miraculous recovery after torsion had been missed and not repaired for 10 days. She was doing so well that we took her to Bathurst Royal Show in 2007 and she managed to win challenge bitch and was runner up best of breed to her brother George – Jupiter. She also attended the Sydney Royal 2007 Easter Show and won Champion bitch Class and runner up best of breed. Not that shows were the most important thing in her life or ours, but I liked to have her with me always just in case.
Things did appear to be going very well for her – so much so that she spent time with her very best friend Drago everyday and even had some time in, a heaven forbid, dog pen.
How she survived those 10 days with a full rotation of her stomach we will never know. How it was missed in the Ultrasound is something we will never know.
But then she is a Mastino with the heart of a Lion and a great love for her family so she hung on. I am so glad she did.
The last three years have been ones of constant surveillance but
Sadly on tuesday 15th June 2010 she lost her final battle with bloat.
