Emmi is my foundation bitch, arriving into Australia from Finland on 1 February 2006. A simply stunning female, of hugely successful Finnish show lines, I often feel like I must have used up a good 20 years of good luck when her breeder agreed to send her to me.

On first meeting her, I found myself in speechlessness, mentally checking off the exceptional qualities of this gorgeous Lapphund one by one. She has supurb type, fantastic substance, lovely structure and angulation, the most beautiful feminine expression with gorgeous little ears, and a fabulous coat.

Combine this with the most delightful, winning, “fall-in love in a second” temperament. To this day, although now quite clearly the alpha matriarch, she is still cheeky and full of mischief, and at the same time as loving as they come.

Emmi made her Melbourne ring debut at the beginning of April 2006, and was consistently the BCC, and regularly BOB, winner from that time on. At a time when our breed struggled to get any recognition, she still managed to amass a number of class in group and in show wins, and is a Best in Group winner.

But under Finnish judges she has truly shone, her wins under such judges including Runner Up to Best Exhibit in Group at the 2007 Perth Royal Show under Finnish judge Ms P Heikkinen-Lehkonen, shortlisted to the final 8 in group at the 2011 Melbourne Royal Show under Finnish judge Mr B Skalin, and Runner Up Best in Speciality Show at the 2013 FLCV Championship Show under Finnish specialist Mr M Tuominen.

She has also, and continues to, shone in the performance rings, having successfully competed and titled in obedience, rally, agility and herding.

Now retired from the show ring, she finished her showing career in style, going Best in Specialty Show at 9 years of age at the FLCNSW Championship Show in 2014.
