Favoured by Gundog specialists, Axel is a stylish, balanced, well angulated GSP of correct size with a clean head, dark eyes, strong topline, excellent body and correct rough coat. He is a proven performer and producer with an excellent, reliable, happy temperament that makes him easy to live with and a joy to show "au naturelle".
Titled at 16 months old with Runner-up to Best in Show (All Breeds), Axel has won 8 x Best in Group (Group #1), all but one under Australian Gundog specialists. His 2nd Runner-up in Show also came under a Gundog Specialist.
Axel won Best Opposite Sex Puppy at the 2008 National and Best Puppy of Breed at 2008 Melbourne Royal. He won Reserve Challenge Dog at Sydney Royal in 2010 and Challenge Dog at Canberra Royal in 2011. All these wins were under FCI judges and (except for Sydney Royal) breed and/or Gundog specialists. At Sydney Royal in 2013 he won a very strong Open Dog class and again won Reserve Challenge Dog.
In 2016, he won Best Veteran in Show at the Gundog Society Specialty.
His sire's pedigree combines field and show titled dogs from Australian and North American kennels dedicated to breeding for both pursuits, including several Dual Champions and Hall of Fame members.
His dam descends from a long line of excellent German and Dutch imports to Australia.
Axel is a proven stud dog with progeny and grandprogeny in 5 states of Australia in both show and working homes. His Champion get have won both Best in Show (All Breeds) and Best in Group.
