Merlin was imported in dam from Kirschental Kennels, Germany, famous for the Herding ability of their dogs. He is from the best of their herding lines. Marion Fuller told me that I had a very special bloodline when I selected Yurado to mate to Carla, Karl's favourite bitch, who was out of his best herding bitch. Carla his dam was only made available because Karl Fuller was unable to finish titling her, due to ill health. He has sadly, recently passed on and as far as I am aware the kennel has been disbanded, a great loss for the breed.
Because I am a fulltime carer, I am unable to show my dogs very often, but Merlin has 3 Challenges, and a Best Intermediate in Group, from a limited number of shows, as well as placing at Sydney Royal. Carla also gained 2nd at Sydney, despite being out of coat.
He is a keen worker, has passed his HIT, and gained a pass for his HT. He has the calmness I have noticed seems to come from this kennel, perhaps this is why they have supplied dogs to become guide dogs etc over many years.
I have retained seven of the 10 pups, Carla produced all have outstanding hip and elbow scores, Merlin's being 1-1:0-0.
Two of the remaining pups were sold to Qld and are both champions, CH. Abbotmoor Molly being B.O.B, LSC Brisbane Royal. Another LSC litter brother has also gained his championship,with 12 straight Challenge dogs and 10 Best of Breeds, in a matter of 5 weeks. Making a total of three champions, so far, in one litter with another 2 multiple C.C. winners. A truly quality litter.
Merlin will be available to a limited number of bitches only. These bloodlines are, as far as I know, the only pure Kirschental Lines available in Australia and certainly the strongest of their herding bloodlines.
The litter has so far produced 2 Champions and 3 C.C winners, while the rest of the litter is also show quality.
