Listing Added : 4-Feb-12

Perry is a lovely Rhodesian Ridgeback boy needing a new home. He is healthy and had all his shots, and mostly well behaved and has a gentle nature. Sometimes Perry gets a little shy, or a bit boisterous, and would be best off with someone who has had Ridgies before. He is good with other large breed female dogs, but not used to cats or small animals. He has been around kids, but because he can be a bit boisterous, would be best with kids over 15years or so.
Perry is available for a $100 donation to the Ridgeback Rescue Fund, to help other RRs in need

Lucy is a 9 year old de sexed Ridgeback female. Good temperament, very gentle, loves to lean on you when you are sitting down or even if you stand still for more than a few seconds. She loves to give you a lick to show her affection. If I’m standing at the pool fence she puts her feet on the top of the fence and leans into you to give you a kiss.

She has a large lump of fat on her abdomen which the vet says is not cancerous and doesn’t need to be removed as it can be more dangerous to put her through surgery.

She is slowing down and can’t handle too long a walk but likes to get out on a regular basis. She is very good on a lead.

Lucy is overweight and will need to go on a diet in a loving home.

Lucy is available for a donation to the Ridgeback Rescue group to help RRs in need.

ALASKA is a pretty 5 yr old Mally girl, who allows full handling and is extremely affectionate. She is a very active and quite boisterous girl who would need an energetic Mally savvy owner willing to provide ongoing obedience training and socialisation as she has had little of either and is very strong on lead. She has currently been living with her son and gets on fine with him.

Alaska is currently an outdoor dog but would love to be an indoor dog as well as be involved in daily family adventures. She would need to be groomed frequently and exercised each day, as she LOVES her walks. High, secure fencing is required.

This gorgeous girl would reward her new furever family a hundredfold with love and affection if she was given the opportunity to reach her full potential. Alaska would love to become a member of your family...she gives GREAT Mally kisses!!!

Ebony has come into the rescue after her owner was no longer able to look after her. She tried her hardest after Ebony lost her "master" but felt that she was not able to provide Ebony with the care she deserved. We could see this was a very big decision for her owner but felt that for once this was actually the right choice for this girl...

She is such a sweetheart and has been raised with small children.

Miss Ebony would only be suitable to a home with an older large laid back male dog, this is due to the fact she has always been an only child and does not enjoy being hassled by younger dogs (fair enough).

She is fantastic on the lead, LOVES the beach and I think she would make an awesome addition to ones home.

Ebony is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and wormed.

If you would like to know more please don't hesitate to contact us, due to current work commitments its difficult to answer the rescue mobile so please email us first and leave us with a contact number (land line preferred).

Missy is available only to an experienced dog home.

Missy is wary of men, so a mainly female home would be better and will make Missy's life much happier but in saying that she will warm to men if they give her the time and patience she needs to build a bond and trust with them.

Missy loves routine and is very settled when given calm, gentle rules and boundaries.

She would suit a quieter home (no kids or teenagers only) and would be better as an only dog. She loves going out for walks but will also entertain you with a game of fetch in the backyard on a rainy day, and she LOVES to cuddle.

This girl is very dear to us here at the rescue, she has been through so much already in her short 2years.

Missy is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and wormed.

Dunn is a funny boy who is looking for a new home to have fun at!!!

He loves chewing on his toys and bones, and would enjoy a trip out to the beach!! He has a clam shell pool in his kennel run which he enjoys splashing in.

His ideal home would be with children over 10yrs of age, another female Rottweiler or large dog would be great but not essential. He is not suitable to a home with small animals (small dogs/cats/rabbits etc) as he has never been socialised with them.

This boy is available for an adoption fee which covers his desexing, vaccination, microchip and worming.

Breed - Siberian Husky

Location : near Wollongong, NSW
Dog Contact : Annette Hill
Phone : 0402 230 743
Email : annette.g.hill@gmail.com
Listing Added : 30-Jan-12

Sasha is a wonderfully affectionate 5 1/2 year old female Siberian Husky. Her brilliant blue eyes and soft grey and white coat ensure she gets attention wherever she goes.

She has a friendly, outgoing nature, and gets along well with people and dogs alike. She is de-sexed, vaccinated, all-wormed and heart wormed, flea and tick treated, micro-chipped and lifetime registered.

Rescued 9 months ago when she was about to be surrendered to the Council Dog Pound by a family who no longer wished to care for such an energetic dog, she has since been living with her current owner and another dog in a big yard with a secure fence, and enjoying two good walks a day. Her owner reluctantly needs to find her a new home due to a job that will involve moving interstate and overseas regularly.

Her happy nature and boundless enthusiasm make Sasha a pleasure to have around. She has never shown any aggression towards people, is gentle with children, and doesn't jump up or bark. She does get excited, especially before a walk or dinner, but she has learned to sit, wait, drop, come and heel, and will walk well on a lead with occasional correction. However, she cannot be let off the lead outside, as she can be very challenging to retrieve once she tastes freedom! She particularly likes to be taken for a jog on the lead to burn off her excess energy.

Sasha needs a home with a very secure yard (6 foot solid wooden paling or colourbond fencing and gates with the fences underpinned to stop her digging out) as she loves to try and dig her way out. She would do best in an only dog home however if living with other dogs she should always be fed separately, as she has fought with other dogs over food and bones. She loves meeting other dogs, and gets along well with her current female companion, a 9-year-old Border Collie cross. However she does have a dominant personality and may clash with another dominant dog. She also likes to chase rabbits and chickens so would not suit a house with small animals or cats.

Although Sasha hasn't had much training in the past, she has learned quickly and with ongoing training will flourish. She was previously a purely outdoor dog, but these days she sleeps inside and has become house trained. More than anything she loves to be close to her family, and enjoys spending time indoors or outdoors, so long as somebody is nearby. She doesn't howl or fret when left alone, but can get bored and start to dig when left for long periods.

Sasha is located in Gerringong (2.5 hrs south of Sydney) and is available immediately for a $250 donation to Husky Rescue. Her owner needs to find her a home by mid February 2012.

Snook - so deserving

available NOW - 30 January
Let me introduce Snook, a gorgeous 3 ˝ year old purebred male Siberian Husky who was surrendered to us by his owners after a change in circumstances left them unable to provide him with a home.

Snook is a great looking boy and has the personality to match, he is one of the sweetest huskies I have had the pleasure of meeting.
He has been a much loved family pet and it really shows.

Snook is very much a ‘people’ husky, he will choose your affections over food, toys or other dogs. He has had the companionship of another dog growing up and is very well mannered around them. This being said Snook would be fine going to a home where he was an only dog provided you have the time to give him the attention he deserves.

Snook loves his walks and is an active young man, he will be looking for a home where he can be included as a valued member of your family and be included in your lifestyle. It is unsure of his house-training status as he has been raised as an out-door dog, but it would be nice to see him in a home where he could be allowed indoors.

This young husky is going to require some training. He is an extremely friendly boy. However he will jump up on you when excited and does have the tendency to soft mouth. Both these traits can be managed by training and Husky Rescue can provide you with support and resource materials to help you on your way. He has been raised with young children and is great with them, but do keep in mind he may be a little boisterous for very young children.

He has been vet checked (no health issues) and had his eyes checked by a Veterinarian as it was suspected he might have a slight vision problem, where small treats on the ground could not be found by sight. Upon thorough examination by our Veterinarian no issue with his eyes was detected.

Snook is going to require 5 to 6 foot fencing to keep him safe, and he does exhibit keen interest with smaller animals which means under no circumstances will he be re-homed where small pets are involved, this includes cats, small dogs, chickens, rabbits etc. As mentioned above he is great with other dogs, and any medium sized dog upwards he will be fine with.

His new owners would need to be committed to giving him a really good walk (or two) each day regardless of the weather to help burn off some energy. They would also need to allow him some time indoors to be with the family.

Snook is currently located in Goulburn NSW
He comes to you vet-checked, de-sexed, vaccinated, wormed, micro-chipped and lifetime registered. He  is available immediately for a donation of $ 250 to Husky Rescue and will go on a 4 week trial period with his new home to make sure he is the right dog for you.

Simba - Such a gentle man and so in need

AVAILABLE NOW - 26 January 2012
Simba - born on 22 November 2001 and abandoned by his owners for being "too old to be bothered with" - this purebred male Siberian Husky needs a new home. He is pale red and white and has brown eyes. He is of medium height and slim build for a Husky.

Simba came to us from the Griffith (NSW) Council Dog Pound after his owners surrendered him to his fate. We know nothing about him, but can tell you that he is friendly, gets on well with dogs and people, loves his cuddles and pats, and knows basic obedience exercises. He is good indoors, and settles quietly, as is to be expected from a mature aged Husky.

Simba is in good health, and acts younger than his years. He has lost weight due to the stress of spending time in a Pound after the people he knew left him there. His new home should not have very young dogs who may annoy him, nor energetic and excitable younger children.

Gentle daily exercise, a mat in a quiet corner of your family room, and a fully fenced and secure yard are essential when considering adding this very needy Husky to your family. He loves all people and interacts positively with everyone he meets. He will repay your kindness with some years of quiet companionship and as your walking partner.

Simba comes neutered, vaccinated and microchipped for a small donation to Husky Rescue

Currently located near Canberra, your enquiries are welcome.
Simba goes on a 4 week trial initially to see how he settles in with your family.

******ON HOLD***** My name is Rufus and I'm looking for my new forever home. I'm only twelve months old, so need some serious training, but I'm quick to learn. I seem okay with dog friendly cats at this stage in my life. Kids aren't a problem, but maybe bigger kids are better for me to play with. I get a tiny bit too excited for the littlies. I'm a happy go lucky sort of guy that could live with another dog, but they would need to be pretty easy going.

If you are interested in adopting Rufus please complete the questionnaire at the link below and forward it to viccollierescue@gmail.com. All of our dogs are desexed, wormed, microchipped and heartworm tested before they go to their new homes.

Breed - Whippet

Location : Sydney, NSW
Dog Contact : Kaz Cleave
Phone : 02 9653 3504
Email : kaz@bundoonwhippets.com
Listing Added : 24-Jan-12

10/11/11 4 Whippets were rescued from Blacktown Pound and are now in the care of Save Our Strays.

While the rescue would really prefer if they went as pairs (two males/two females) they will consider letting them go as individuals to the right home.

The whippets have been assessed by club member, Kaz, who is happy to provide information and more pictures on the dogs. They are in reasonable condition, some thinner than others, but overall, they have good temperaments, are not barkers and are generally well behaved. We are unsure of their history. Once suitable homes are found, the dogs will be chipped and desexed.
For further information, please contact Save Our Strays at Londonderry or contact Whippet Club Rescue Co-ordinator Kaz at kaz@bundoonwhippets.com for photos, or phone her on 9653 3504 to get a referal to SOS.

Rosa is the most beautiful young Rottie girly. She appears to be a very soft natured girl who just wants to be around people. She will make a wonderful addition to the right family.

She just loves to be patted and touched. She would be happiest in a home with older children who are calm and have an understanding of large breed dogs.

Training is strongly suggested for Rosa as she is an intelligent girl who will really prove herself to be the most outstanding companion dog if time and effort is invested into her in the early stages. She is a gentle player and loves her soft toys! She is a velcro dog who likes to stick by her humans so Rosa must be a part of the family and be accpeted into the house and it's activities at all times.

Rosa is fully vaccinated, sterilised, microchipped and wormed. She will be available to the right home for an adoption fee. Go and meet her and register your interest in the beautiful Rosa. The Dogs refuge Home is OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK from 11 - 4pm
