He is a very active dog who needs to be in a home that is preferably acreage, with another dog and with an owner who either works from home or with someone he can go to work with. He has an abundance of energy that needs to be channeled properly so preferably no small children as he tends to knock them over with is exuberance. Breed - Dachshund (Long Haired)

Location : VIC
Dog Contact : Lisa J Ryan
Phone : (03) 5772 3328
Email : dachshundrescue@dodo.com.au
Listing Added : 31-Aug-10

Charlie Brown is very typical of the Standard Long Haired variety of Dachshund – intelligent, sweet and affectionate. Charlie Brown would spend all day just lying next to you, lavishing affection on you.

This gorgeous five year old Shaded Red Standard Long Haired Dachshund will shortly be looking for a loving forever home, with a family to call his own.

He has only just come into foster care as a surrendered boy due to a change in his family’s circumstances, so he needs a little time to settle so we can really get to know him and determine the most suitable type of home for him.
Charlie Brown is very much a Dachshund, very intelligent, full of personality and character and will happily smooch next to you, and focus all his love and attention on you. With a bit of work to get him back into a ‘routine’, you'll find he is a fantastic and loving companion who is looking for someone to be the ‘leader’, to help him settle and where the boundaries are clear and consistent. He responds very well and very quickly to positive reinforcement and reward based training for accepted behaviour.

He is a fairly independent man who can keep himself occupied but is also playful and always ready for a cuddle and enjoys and needs other canine company. If you are looking for a dog who only wants the pleasure of enjoying your company then Charlie Brown is the one.

Charlie Brown is good with people, children, other similar sized well behaved dogs, cats, enjoys car travel and is good on a lead. He will enjoy a good brisk daily walk with you to meet the neighbours.

Fairly typical of Standard Long Haired Dachshunds, Charlie Brown lives for his people, is very affectionate, sweet and outgoing. He would also prefer a home with older children where he will be included as a member of the family, receive regular exercise, have a yard with Dachshund proof fencing and a nice interesting garden to explore, good shelter and be allowed inside, preferably with an owner who is home a lot. He will enjoy a regular brush and lots of love and cuddles. He also needs the company of another similar sized and well behaved dog (is good with other well behaved small dogs).

Only those who can offer Charlie Brown the very best and most suitable home (for life) will be considered. This may either an experienced Dachshund home or someone who has had previous experience with a dog that will initially be a little unsettled but with time, patience and commitment will adapt extremely well. A special home where he will be a loved, valued companion for life and will be allowed to settle in his own time.

If you are interested in being considered as an adoptive forever home for this lovely dog you can contact Lisa to complete an Application for Adoption form to ensure suitable screening which will include a house check. An Adoption Agreement document will also need to be signed for the successful applicant/s. Charlie Brown will be available for adoption for a donation to Rescue and any transport costs. He is desexed, wormed, microchipped and is up to date on his vaccinations.

Breed - Dachshund (Smooth Haired)

Location : QLD
Dog Contact : Lisa J Ryan
Phone : (03) 5772 3328
Email : dachshundrescue@dodo.com.au
Listing Added : 31-Aug-10

AJ is a Red Standard Smooth dog and is approximately 5 years old. AJ and his buddy Apollo were left in kennels by their owner and never collected. They have spent the last two years of their life living in these kennels waiting for an owner who did not ever turn up. Thankfully the kennel owner was a dog lover who continued to provide good food, care and routine vet care for these boys. When hearing about AJ and Apollo, we immediately teamed up with some rescue friends and arranged to fly them to foster care where they will both initially learn to adjust to and enjoy a normal home environment with a Dachshund loving foster dad while they settle, relax and undergo their required vet work.

As AJ has only just come into foster he needs a little time to settle so we can really get to know him, update his profile and determine the most suitable type of home for him. Then, when he is ready, this gorgeous boy will be looking for a loving forever home, with an individual or family to call his own.

What we do know is that AJ and Apollo are a pretty bonded pair and it would be preferable for them to remain together. Like many Dachshunds, AJ likes to size a person up before he makes friends but in general is good with other dogs, older children and adults. He will need a caring and committed individual or family who will continue to build his confidence and allow him to enjoy a normal home life out of a kennel environment. With a bit of trust you'll find he is a fantastic and loving companion who is looking for someone to be the ‘leader’ and help him settle into a routine where the boundaries are clear and consistent. AJ would be best suited in a quiet, loving home (for life) where he will always be included as a member of the family, receive regular exercise, have a yard with Dachshund proof fencing and a nice interesting garden to explore, good shelter and be allowed inside, preferably with an owner who is home a lot. He will enjoy a regular brush and lots of love and cuddles.

Only those who can offer AJ the very best will be considered. This may either an experienced Dachshund home or someone who has had previous experience with a dog that will initially be a little unsettled but with time, patience and commitment will adapt extremely well. A special home where he will be a loved, valued companion for life and will be allowed to settle in his own time.

If you are interested in being considered as an adoptive forever home for AJ you can contact Lisa to complete an Application for Adoption form to ensure suitable screening which will include a house check. An Adoption Agreement document will also need to be signed for the successful applicant/s. AJ will be available for adoption for a donation to Rescue to cover his vet work and any transport costs.

Breed - Shar Pei

Location : Brisbane, QLD
Dog Contact : Jennifer
Email : peiradise@bigpond.com
Listing Added : 28-Aug-10

Bolt was surrendered as the newest skin addition to the family was allergic to his coat. Despite months of trying to remedy this the family was finally given no option except to rehome their beloved boy. Bolt has all his manners in place and is a gentle boy. He is good with children, cats and other dogs. His name is not at all indicative of his nature as he is not inclined to bolt anywhere. He is named after the cartoon dog Bolt the super dog who is a white dog who decides he is real and sets off to save his screen co-star from a threat he perceives as real.

This photo does not do Bolt any justice. He is a beautiful squooshy faced boy. He has just undergone some entropian surgery so I would rather wait until he has recovered and then be able to show what a truly stunning lad he is.

She is 1 yr old, desexed, vaccinated, heartwormed, flea treated.

Breed - Australian Kelpie

Location : Queanbeyan, NSW
Dog Contact : Kate
Phone : 0418 249 234
Email : adoptarescuedog@hotmail.com
Listing Added : 26-Aug-10

Lucky has been well cared for, and is a happy, healthy kelpie with a nice, stable temperament. He is fully housetrained, has polite indoor manners and knows some obedience commands already. He is very happy to tag along off-lead on walks, without running off. Lucky is also very smart and keen to please, so will easily learn new tricks.

Lucky needs a new home due to his owners changed living arrangements. He has a balanced, easy going personality, likes people and other dogs and is very playful. Lucky is energetic and will need regular exercise so is best suited to an active person or someone who already has a playful dog to be Lucky's companion. Lucky is larger than the average kelpie but seems to have stopped growing now. He is 11 months young.

Lucky would suit a home with older children or no children. He will be happiest in a home with a canine companion and with an owner who is happy to have him indoors when they are home, so he can feel like one of the family.

Lucky is desexed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and available to adopt for $200.

To enquire about Lucky, please contact Kate on 0418249234 or adoptarescuedog@hotmail.com

Breed - Beagle

Location : Sydney, NSW
Dog Contact : Carolyn
Phone : 02 9674 2580
Email : enquiries@beaglerescuensw.org.au
Listing Added : 21-Aug-10

Bella is a 2˝ year old tri-colour girl who was surrendered as her owners were having trouble keeping her contained as the property was rented and they were unable to make the fences more secure.

She is lifetime registered & desexed and has had a health and temperament check, is fully vaccinated, and is on regular worm, heartworm & flea treatment.

Bella is used to children and cats, is housetrained and knows sit, stay, drop, rollover, shake, high five and wave.

Notes from Bella's foster carers:

Bella is a delightful, intelligent and gentle girl to have around and has fitted in with us very easily. She is house-trained and understands basic commands of sit and drop but needs more training with stay. She enjoys spending time around humans and loves to sit at your feet or share your lounge chair and have a cuddle though she happily goes outside with our dog and sleeps in the sun.

Bella lacks a little confidence sometimes and retreats to her crate if she thinks she is in trouble but soon comes out ready for another pat when called. She loves to go for our daily walks and is quite good using a harness, only occasionally needing to be given a tug to leave a scent. She has also been to the off-leash park and was fine with both small and large dogs though she will bark at some people passing as she is quite the watch-dog however she will stop when told.

She sleeps inside in a doorless crate at night with access to the yard via a dog door and has made no noise if and when she has gone out. Like most Beagles she loves her food but I haven't had any issues between the dogs at feeding time.

I have found that she will try and crawl under the gate at the park and suspect that if left home alone may try to find a way out to look for her family, therefore she needs to be with someone who spends a lot of time at home and she will make the most loyal and loving companion. It would also be preferable if she had another dog for company though not one who really wants to run and play just one to snuggle up against while they snooze!

If you feel you can give Bella the loving happy home she deserves then please contact her foster carers.

Her adoption fee is $300

Anyone interested in adopting her will need to fill in the Application to Adopt form on the link below

http://www.beaglerescuensw.org.au/forms/applicationtoadopt_form.htm

Please note: She is NOT available for interstate adoption except the ACT.

Breed - Beagle

Location : Kurrajong, NSW
Dog Contact : Monique or Matt

Email : enquiries@beaglerescuensw.org.au
Listing Added : 21-Aug-10

Diesel is a 20 month old tri-colour boy who was surrendered to Beagle Rescue as his owners were living in a rented property & the landlord was not happy at the typical beagle activities that Diesel undertook in the backyard through boredom. Rather than confine him to a small area his owners
decided he would be better off with a family that doesn't have these constraints.

He is lifetime registered & desexed and has had a health and temperament check, is fully vaccinated, and is on regular worm, heartworm & flea treatment.

Notes from Diesel's foster carers:

Diesel is a young boy with a happy disposition and a zest for life.

Diesel has previously been an only dog but was fairly destructive due to boredom, his forever home must have another dog for companionship and play. Diesel gets along well with all his new beagle friends young and old.

Diesel is now house trained and sleeps inside at night on his doggy bed. He walks well on the lead but does pull as he likes to sniff everything

He sits quietly while you are getting his dinner ready and being a typical beagle he loves his food and would be quite happy to steal food if the occasion presented itself!

Diesel travels well in the car and likes to watch the passing scenery.

Diesel would suit a young active family with another dog. He loves to be outdoors with his friends and toys but does like to come inside at night to sleep.

If you feel you can give Diesel the loving happy home he deserves then please contact his foster carers

His adoption fee is $350 Anyone interested in adopting him will need to fill in the Application to Adopt form on the link below
http://www.beaglerescuensw.org.au/forms/applicationtoadopt_form.htm

Please note: He is NOT available for interstate adoption except the ACT.

Breed - Siberian Husky

Location : south of Sydney, NSW
Dog Contact : Ros Goodwin
Phone : 0422 243 541
Email : rgoodwin5@bigpond.com
Listing Added : 17-Aug-10

Meet Maple, a 3 ˝ year old black and white female Siberian husky with brown eyes who was saved from euthanasia at a Sydney Pound by Husky Rescue, and who is now looking for a brand new start in a new home.

Maple is vaccinated, de-sexed, microchipped, lifetime registered, up to date with worming and other medications and has no known medical conditions. She is available immediately for $350 which will go towards the cost of her care and vet bills. Maple is located in Douglas Park 2569, in Sydney's south west, and is available for a trial period to make sure she'll settle in with your family. Maple comes with an information pack when she is adopted, which includes care and training advice, and free help is available through Husky Rescue for any questions an adopter might have, at any time.

Maple loves people and is a bit of a gentle giant. She's on the taller side for a husky (so it is possible she has some mixed breeding in her past) but she's calm and patient when needed and will happily sit for pats and for her dinner. She isn't given to hyperactivity or the 'zoomies' but as a healthy adult female she still has lots of energy if needed. Her new home will need to offer her entertaining toys to play with and provide regular walks to keep her happy and healthy.

Maple would suit a household that has no other dogs or pets, especially no small pets such as mice, rabbits, birds – or cats. Maple is about average when it comes to meeting other dogs, so time and patience is recommended if she is to be introduced to any canine playmates in her new neighbourhood.

Maple has proved to be a very quiet dog who would be ideal for indoor family life, and is not at all inclined to be a noisemaker or destructive, and has been fine with being left alone for periods of time outdoors. She has also proved to be house trained while in foster care and her new owner will just need to show her where to toilet for the first week or so to continue this while she settles in.

It is unlikely Maple has had obedience training in her past, but she does respond to basic commands like Sit and Come. Her new home will need to continue her training using dog-friendly methods, and in particular learn how to teach her not to pull on lead. Training advice is available on request.

To find out more about Maple, or to arrange a time to meet her, please contact her foster carer.

Listing Added : 17-Aug-10

Ebony is a beautiful solid black pedigree, 8yr old desexed female GSP. She is currently living on a farm with her owner outside Bendigo however, she has recently wandered across the road to the neighbour's property and harassed their chooks - despite being brought up with them on her property and never having an issue. The local Council have stipulated that the incident cannot reoccur, so to be sure, the owner is regretfully surrendering her to GSP Rescue. He purchased Ebony from a registered breeder at 8wks of age, so Ebony definately needs to go to a great home - preferably without poultry. She is currently an inside/outside dog who has lived on a farm her whole life. A similar set up for Ebony would be ideal but not compulsory. She would enjoy plenty of love and attention and is great with other dogs and children alike. Ebony is a lovely GSP who enjoys her exercise and human companionship like any GSP. She is fairly low maintenance and would be a fantastic addition to anyone looking for a well trained, mature GSP. Please contact Caroline if you are interested in meeting Ebony.
