Looking back, 1983 was my very first introduction to Terriers. I was a proud co-owner of two very special Border Terriers whilst working in the equine industry located in the Lake District, UK. These two fearless little dynamos would entertain me from dawn till dusk and I particularly admire all the special breeds that make up “The Terrier Group”.

Meeting Craig my future husband, after immigrating to Sydney Australia in 1988 allowed me to become involved with Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Craig currently owned a Nitemarch bred bitch Ch. Nitemarch Miss Dapper, anyone who has been exhibiting/breeding Staffords within Australia I’m sure would recognise the name of this kennel.

Ch. Nitemarch Miss Dapper did not enjoy the show ring, but with strong determination, Miss Dapper gained her Australian Champion status. Not long after, Craig and I applied for our current prefix ‘HIGHBOURNE’ and embarked on making Aus. Ch. Nitemarch Miss Dapper our foundation bitch, which looking back has proved successful.

From our first litter, we kept a dazzling red and white pied bitch. Her name was Aus. Ch. Highbourne Bo Derek, who carved out an enviable show record, under breed specialists, from the word go.

Being a small and select kennel we only breed for ourselves when we need our next show dog, and our stud dogs only go to carefully selected bitches. We have campaigned/bred Aus. / NZ 22 Champions, which include 3 GRAND Champions and 1 Supreme GRAND Champion to date.
Our firm belief is to breed standard-sized, sound animals, and endeavor to turn them out in the best possible condition for competition. Highbourne has the enviable show record of being the leading award-winning kennel in Australasia under UK specialists.
