I have been in the dog world for well over 30 years, my primary interest being Gundogs. Under my Greysouthen prefix, I have successfully bred, raised, trained, exported/imported and exhibited numerous Show Champions, Grand & Supreme Champions, Retrievers and Continental Gundogs that are successful in the Field, Tracking, Endurance and dog sports. Over the years I have handled virtually every Grp 3 breed and many in Grps 1, 2, 4 & 7
at events around the world including the prestigious Crufts Show in the UK, The Nordic Winners Shows in Scandinavia, European Winners, Westminster in the USA and numerous Royal Shows in Australia.
In recent years, I have concentrated on my main love - the Flat Coated Retriever. In 2008 I imported a stunning boy, from one of Swedens' top FCR kennels. He proved to be one of the best all-round and most consistent Flatcoats seen in many years, setting a trend that others have followed. More recently I have imported yet another Flatcoat from Sweden. The the son of Multi Intl Ch: Almanza Backseat Driver, Crufts BIS winning dog 2022, 'Joker', Aust. Supreme Ch: Almanza Double Action Dark Kiss is acknowledged as the top winning imported Flatcoat of all time in Australia... Nothing comes near him for quality, style, temperament, breed type & soundness. He has proven to be the most influential Flatcoat to come to Australia, producing multiple Champions & Supreme Champions and Flatcoats that excel in the field, tracking, scenting and canine performance sports.
I am a fully licensed ANKC (& FCI) Championship Judge for all Group 3 Gundogs, Group 7 Non-Sporting, Junior Handlers (and also Group 1 Toys at Open Show level) and an approved/accredited Judges Assessor. I have been honoured to judge Breed, Group Specialty and All-Breeds shows (including Perth Royal Show) in all States of Australia, North & South Islands of New Zealand, Canada, and also award CACIB's/CAC's in Thailand, Japan, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Sweden & The Baltics. Many of my European & Scandinavian appointments have been at some of the largest and most prestigious events including Euro Winners, Nordic Winners and numerous Breed Specialty and National Shows.
My other interests include RATG, Endurance, Tracking and rough shooting during the winter season. I am currently President of the Northern Gundog Society of NSW, a CNCC Delegate, an experienced Show Manager as well as a Royal Show Steward & Announcer ...away from the dog world, I am a keen traveller and have been a licensed Pilot for around 45 years.
