SHOW DOG OF THE YEAR 2012 RULES
These rules should be read in conjuction with
rules covering all pointscore competitions.
Remember - All results need to be submitted to us within 30 days of the event/show.
We strongly recommend that you submit the result the day you receive it to prevent future unforeseen circumstances stopping you from entering it within the 30 day time limit. Entering the result on the same day will also place the result into our Show Results section in a timely manner.
The Show Dog of the Year 2012 (All Breeds) competition is used to recognise an individual dog's achievements at a National and State level when competing against other breeds.
Eligible results can be entered from any All Breeds Championship Show or Group Specialty Championship Show in Australia. For the purposes of the pointscore, a 'Group Specialty' is a specialty show where ALL the breeds from at least one (1) ANKC group are eligible to enter.
- Only the best 30 results (points value) will be included. The pointscore system will automatically select the best 30 results from the results that are submitted. We recommend that ALL your eligible results are submitted to our system so that they can also be included in our 'Show Results' section.
- Tie-Breaker - In the event that 2 or more dogs have the same number of points, the dog with the most 'Best in Show' wins (out of their top 30 results) will be placed first. If there is still not an outright leader, the number of Runner-Up in Show wins (out of the top 30 results) will be counted, and then if necessary, the Best in Group wins (out of the top 30 results).
- The following results are eligible.
- Best in Show
- Runner Up in Show (or Best in Show 2nd)
- Best in Group
- Runner Up in Group (or Best in Group 2nd)
- Only the highest award per exhibit per show will be counted.
- Points Allocation
Points will be allocated based on the number of dogs entered in the show / group (including absentees and baby puppies). Ensure you read and undertand the pointscore results guide so you know how to obtain and submit the correct catalogue numbers!
- Best in Show will be awarded points equal to the number of dogs entered in the Show
- Runner Up in Show will be awarded points equal to the number of dogs entered in the Show minus 1
- Best in Group will be awarded points equal to the number of dogs entered in the Group
- Runner Up in Group will be awarded points equal to the number of dogs entered in the Group minus 1
- Where we are notified that more than 50% of dogs have been marked absent from the total entry of a show (for whatever reason), the points for wins will be allocated on a sliding percentage of the points an exhibitor would normally receive as per the table below. Where possible, if we have to make adjustments to a show, the calculation for Group points will be based on the absentee level of each respective group.
- More than 50% of dogs absent - 50% of normal points will be awarded
- More than 75% of dogs absent - 25% of normal points will be awarded
- The following rules apply to the State component of the Show Dog of the Year competition.
- For the purposes of the competition, a dog's 'State', (herein referred to as the 'competition state') will be defined as the state where the dog has been resident for the majority of the year (when actively being shown).
- The state tally will be calculated on the top 30 shows that were held in the dog's competition state. This could result in different shows being counted in the state and national component of the competition.
- Up to 4 results from shows held in a different state or territory to the dog's 'competition state' can be included in the top 30 state tally for a dog. The system will automatically include these if necessary to give the dog the best total.
- In cases where it is difficult to define the 'competition state' we will use our discretion to determine the 'competition state' based on the facts presented. This decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Certificates
will be awarded in the Show Dog of the Year (All Breeds) Competition for
