JUNIOR HANDLERS COMPETITION 2009
Competition Rules
These rules should be read in conjuction with
rules covering all pointscore competitions.
Remember - All results need to be submitted to us within 30 days of the event.
We strongly recommend that you submit the result the day you receive it to prevent future unforeseen circumstances stopping you from entering it within the 30 day time limit.
It is also your responsibility to check all relevant results have been recorded. If there is an omission, we will not make adjustments that increase points outside of the 30 day limit.
Eligible results can be entered from any Australian Conformation show where the show committee runs a Junior Handlers heat.
- The competition will be split into 2 age classes. Junior (7-under 13) and Senior (13-under 18).
- Minimum age to enter is 7.
- Once handlers turn 18, they will be ineligible to complete in further heats. Any points earned before that age will still be valid in the competition.
- If a handler turns 13 during the competition year, they will be automatically moved to the Senior competition (taking any points gained in previous heats)
- Junior age class (as referred to by this competition) includes results from 7-under 10 and 10-under 13 age heats if the show committee runs 2 separate heats for these age groups. When counting the number of handlers in order to calculate the number of points to be awarded, only count the number of handlers in the individual heat won (ie 7-under 10 or 10-under 13).
- If a show committee runs a 'Final' at their show based on selected Junior Handler winners from previous heats run by the show committee over 1 or more days, the result from the final will be ineligible for submission to this competition. Only the results from the heats can be submitted.
- Points will be allocated for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each heat based on the number of handlers in the age class for that heat.
- 1st place will be awarded points equal to the number of handlers in the heat
- 2nd place will be awarded points equal to the number of handlers in the heat minus 1
- 3rd place will be awarded points equal to the number of handlers in the heat minus 2
- Changing Breeds
Once a handler has won a 1st place three (3) times in eligible competition heats, they will no longer be able to handle the same breed at future heats within the competition year. - As per ANKC rules, all dogs handled must be over the age of 12 months. No bitches in season are permitted to be used in the competition.
- Judges Qualification
For the purpose of this competition, any individual deemed to be suitable by the show committee can be authorised to judge a heat. - Best New Handler Award
An award will be given to the best new Junior Handler in each age class. This award is open to Junior Handlers who have not competed in a Junior Handler event at an ANKC sanctioned show prior to Jan 1,2009. (Where this is disputed, a Statutory Declaration from the Parent/Guardian may be requested) - *************************************************************
All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placegetters in an individual heat are required to get the judge to complete the 'Junior Handlers Result Verification Form' to verify the win. This form must be kept by the competitor and forwarded on request to Dogz Online Pty Ltd if we need to verify a win. If the form cannot be produced when requested, the result will be disqualified.
************************************************************* - The following rules apply to the State component of the Junior Handlers competition.
- For the purposes of the competition, a handler's 'State', (herein referred to as the 'competition state') will be defined as the state where the handler has been resident for the majority of the year.
- In cases where it is difficult to define the 'competition state' we will use our discretion to determine the 'competition state' based on the facts presented. This decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
National Senior and Junior winners will win $1000 each.
Trophies will be awarded to State Winners in each age class
and Best New Handler (National) in each age class.
