SHOW DOG OF THE YEAR 2009
(All Breeds)
These rules should be read in conjuction with
rules covering all pointscore competitions.
Remember - All results need to be submitted to us within 30 days of the event/show.
We strongly recommend that you submit the result the day you receive it to prevent future unforeseen circumstances stopping you from entering it within the 30 day time limit.
It is also your responsibility to check all relevant results have been recorded for your dog in each section of the pointscore. If there is an omission, we will not make adjustments that increase points outside of the 30 day limit.
The Show Dog of the Year 2009 (All Breeds) competition is used to recognise an individual dog's achievements at a National and State level when competing against other breeds.
Eligible results can be entered from any All Breeds Championship Show or Group Specialty Championship Show in Australia. For the purposes of the pointscore, a 'Group Specialty' Championship Show is a show where ALL the breeds from at least one (1) ANKC group are eligible to enter.
- The following results are eligible.
- Best in Show
- Runner Up in Show (or Best in Show 2nd)
- Best in Group
- Runner Up in Group (or Best in Group 2nd)
- 3rd and 4th Show/Group placings (where awarded at a show) are NOT eligible for the competition.
- Only the highest award per exhibit per show will be counted.
- Points Allocation
Points will be allocated based on the number of dogs entered in the show / group (including absentees and baby puppies). Ensure you read and undertand the pointscore results guide so you know how to obtain and submit the correct catalogue numbers!
- Best in Show will be awarded points equal to the number of dogs entered in the Show
- Runner Up in Show will be awarded points equal to the number of dogs entered in the Show minus 1
- Best in Group will be awarded points equal to the number of dogs entered in the Group

- Where there is more than 35% of dogs marked absent (for whatever reason) from the total entry of a show, the points for wins will be allocated on a sliding percentage of the points an exhibitor would normally receive as per the table below. Where possible, the calculation for Group/Breed points will be based on the absentee level of each respective group.
- More than 35% of dogs absent - 65% of normal points will be awarded
- More than 50% of dogs absent - 50% of normal points will be awarded
- More than 65% of dogs absent - 35% of normal points will be awarded
- More than 80% of dogs absent - 20% of normal points will be awarded
- The following rules apply to the State component of the Show Dog of the Year competition.
- For the purposes of the competition, a dog's 'State', (herein referred to as the 'competition state') will be defined as the state where the dog has been resident for the majority of the year (when actively being shown).
- Where points are won at a show held in a different state or territory to the dog's 'competition state', only the four best wins interstate will be included in the state tally.
- In cases where it is difficult to define the 'competition state' we will use our discretion to determine the 'competition state' based on the facts presented. This decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
Certificates
will be awarded for all
National / State / Group winners.
