Schlau Miniature Long Haired Dachshunds is a small select kennel that has specialised in the breeding and showing of this variety for 45 years with in excess of forty five Australian and International Champions. We are constantly striving to improve the breed as a whole with carefully planned breeding programs and a natural diet, which enhances the health and wellbeing of the puppies that we breed. We usually only breed to enhance our show team but sometimes have puppies and mature dogs available to loving homes. All puppies are provided with a puppy pack, limited registration papers, will have been on a regular worming program from 2 weeks of age, vaccinated and micro-chipped before going to their new homes. In working to improve the breed all stock has been PRA tested.

We are a small kennel. I have titles in the show ring, and obedience ring. My dogs are all roar food, diet and positive trained. I look after the physical and mental health. of them I am on 3 1/2 acres. My dogs are not, kenneled and they are inside at night my puppies will stay with us to 12 weeks of age They are positive trained by the time they go to their new families they will be clicker trained taught to sit drop touch and recall. They will be used to travelling in a car socialised with other dogs and people. They will be trained to use a kitty litter tray with kitty litter in it! They have been using a doggy door from about five weeks of age and using it to go to the toilet outside about sixty percent of the time.all the dogs and puppies are on a raw food diet. The puppies will have their first vac will be microchipped and have a general blood test and vet checked three times.the puppies will come with a desexing contract and be on a limited register? I need to make this very clear - due to their personalities, the Miniature Long Haired Dachshund is an active dog and not a breed that is suitable to living in an apartment. They need a securely fenced grassy yard (not a small courtyard, or an apartment) to play freely in. They do like to bark as well.
We are a small family breeder of miniature long haired dachshunds. We breed our dachshunds for their temperaments and also for conformation to the ANKC standards as well as screening dogs I breed with for PRA, SDMD, Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis, Sanfilippo Syndrome. Archie and Lillie, my foundation dachshunds lines can be traced back to arriving from the UK in the early 1970's.
Our dogs are bred in a family home living with our family - not in kennels and from the day they are born are exposed to noises in our daily life. I also give puppies Early Neurological Stimulation from birth.

Have owned and bred initially toy poodles since 1970 and long haired miniature dachshunds since 1990. The dachshunds are a delightful little dog who will meet most of what you desire in a dog as your pet. Intelligent, loyal and loving. They enjoy interaction with others so puppy school or any advanced form of doggy education is always met with delight
I have been exhibiting my dogs since 1970 and for me it has become a pleasant social sport and over the years I have made some lifelong friendships
Polbathic predominantly breeds Standard longs but has ventured into miniature longs. We thank Andrew and Paige McMaster for the opportunity to own one of their Miniature Longhairs, Athelny, thus making her our Miniature Foundation girl.
We have been amongst the show community for 9yrs. We have shown dogs and campaigned others along with other breed during this time.
My dogs have had a full breed profile tested through ORIVET and are all PRA clear, SDMD Clear. They also receive screenings in Back scoring, Patella and Thyroid testing.
All prospective dams and sires are screened by myself along side a couple of long time breeders who are my mentors to choose the best possible breeding match to help breed healthy and to the breeding standard.

Small breeder and new exhibitor of miniature long-haired dachshunds. Have been researching the breed, pedigrees, and structure + function since 2017. My lines are largely international to improve the genetic diversity seen in Australia, and include some beautiful lineages seen globally.
My primary focus for my fur-children is to ensure their health and the health of their babies. I extensively study pedigrees and biomechanics of movements plus perform health testing to maximise the health of my children.
We back score our parents. This is an x ray protocol well-researched from Finland that looks at the calcifications in the spine. These scores are used to determine the inherited risk of ivdd. I try to pair with well known lines, or to dogs that have been scored
We also have had their knees, hips and elbows assessed and graded to assess the risk of potentially inherited hip dysplasia (not common, but still happens), patella (knee) subluxation (the tendency to dislocate), and elbow dysplasia (uncommon in small breeds)
PRA (progressive retinal atrophy, a type of blindness) is tested on all adults, and pairings for breeding will be performed to ensure there is no chance pups will be affected by PRA.
My puppies are all raised in my home, as part of the family. They are raised with Early Neurological Stimulation in the first 2 weeks, and Puppy Culture Socialising protocol to engage their social skills and development to form well-rounded puppies ready for their new life.
We are a new kennel, and will be breeding for excellent breed type, temperament and health. We regularly show across NSW and ACT. All dogs are PRA clear.
