Established since 1972, Amhurst lines incorporate the world famous Wendover breeding, making our dogs over 80 years line bred. The last 8 years has seen the infusion of Swedish breeding from their leading kennel, Copper's Kennel,winner of the Bitch CC at Cruft's 2012.
Breeding occasionally, we strive to always improve the breed, and follow the standard Australia should adhere to, the English standard.
Our puppies are brought up in a home environment, and all of our adult dogs, run free together as a happy and harmonious group. Temperament is paramount in our wonderful breed.
Puppies are sometimes available to discerning buyers.
Having been an international judge for at least 20 years, I am lucky enough to see Irish Setters in all parts of the world, which has enabled me to incorporate imported dogs into our gene pool.

I started my involvement in the dog world with my first Irish Setter in 1973.
I have continued to breed and successfully show Irish Setters for the past 48 years under the Lanascol prefix - now having 9 NZ Grand Champions (a New Zealand Grand Champion requires the dog to have 50 Best Dog or Bitch awards plus 3 Best in Show All Breeds).
3 of these have gone on to become Supreme Champions since the award was introduced here.
Over the years I have also imported a number of Irish Setters to help with my breeding program.While not breeding as often now I do have the occasional litter.

we are very excited to announce the safe arrival of our very first smooth litter into the Roughclan family. Both Paret are from import lines, with amazing temperaments. Rudi { blamorder be my valentino} is a sweet affectionate, energetic, intelligent lad that gives the best cuddles. Dare { ch Talcott Magic Lantern} has followed in her rough fathers foot steps and is a certified therapy dog. Dare is fun loving, sweet, cuddly, energetic, and intelligent. so with this combo we couldnt really go wrong . The DNA combo of the two parents makes for healthy puppies as well

We have available 3 smooth boys and one smooth girl. the other boy and girl will be available depending on DNA results. They have been dubbed the" all blacks" as they are all tri colors

These babies have been raised in my home with other dogs, cats, and have had plenty of visitors. Young children, and adults have handled these babies. they are affectionate, fun loving, and very human orientated babies that will make amazing companions.

They will come with extensive puppy pack, dogs victoria paper work, vaccinations, microchips, eye testing{ veterinary ophthalmologist} and vet checked before they leave the premisis.
