Prefix : GOWRON (Anatolian Shepherd Dog)
We run a small grazing property on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. We purchased our first Anatolian Shepherd in 2013 to guard orphaned lambs. After a steep learning curve, we began to see the benefits of a working livestock guardian dog.
Gowron (Tribocie “Butter Me Up”) is a dedicated guardian for our sheep, chooks, and family. He is intelligent, strong-willed, independent, and at times aloof. He has an immediate and determined response to foxes, and his presence has increased our lamb survival rate. He has a special bond with our pet rabbit, and is a very patient and tolerant friend for our young daughter.
In 2015 Gowron got an assistant. Riva (Vadi Riva NZ IMP) is a big girl, with a big personality. She is versatile – she can chase down a fox and return on command, and provide hours of enjoyment for the family as she pushes in for attention and pats. Riva is a solid guardian who is improving with age.
Both of our dogs possess desirable guardian traits while conforming to the breed standard. Although we have made a decision not to focus on dog shows, we are confident that their lineage provides evidence of their robust breeding. Hip scoring and thyroid testing results are available on request.
