We are a small kennel situated in Manaia, Taranaki.

Labradors have always been a part of our lives. We appreciate everything about a Labrador that makes it a Labrador. All of our dogs are part of our lives and we love their devotion, companionship and enthusiasm for all the simple things.

We bred our first registered litter under the Targun kennel name in 1987. Over the years we have used our Labradors for duck hunting, training and showing.

Our aim will always be to breed beautiful Labradors with great temperaments that are sound, happy and healthy. The health and welfare of our dogs and the puppies we produce is extremely important to us. All of our breeding dogs have extensive health tests, including Hip and Elbow X-Rays, DNA screening and Annual Eye Examinations.

Our pups are raised in a home environment and are accustomed to everyday activities and visitors to ensure that they are well socialised and confident when they are ready to go to their new homes.

Puppies occasionally available to approved homes.

Visitors are always welcome and encouraged to come and meet all of our dogs, by appointment.

We are a small kennel situated approximately 1.5 hour's drive North of Auckland,on a 57 acre lifestyle block in Te Arai.
My aim is to breed quality yellow [with a special interest in the FOX RED shade], black , and occasionally chocolate labrador puppies that are true to type, genetically sound and impeccably natured. All breeding stock are hip and elbow x rayed and have annual eye checks. They are all also DNA tested for EIC and PRA., HNPK, MCD, CNM, Dilute gene and Long Coat Gene.
Although I do exhibit my dogs in the showring, my favorite times are spent on daily off lead walks over the farm and at local beaches, watching their natural antics.
I welcome enquiries from anyone wanting to know more about the breed, my kennels,stud dogs or Ashdale puppy ownership.

We are delighted that "Nora" (Ch Blackboy Scriptwriter at Charing, Imp Aust) has been confirmed in whelp to "Floyd" (Waterlines Floyd, Finland) by way of frozen semen. She is due at the end of September probably with black puppies, maybe with yellow ones too (but no chocolates). Nora has already whelped a fantastic litter of blacks last year, some of whom are being shown. Our two are having great success in the showring. Others are amazing pets for very good owners.

Please contact us to start a conversation about you as the prospective new owner(s) for these puppies. We reserve the right to sell only to appropriate owners. Both parents have been health tested according to Dogs NZ requirements. The pups will be DNA tested and microchipped before leaving us. Extensive information will be given and follow up available. They will be ready to go once they are 8 weeks old, in late November-early December.

We are very experienced breeders with sound reputations in NZ, Australia and further abroad.
