Queensland's first Finnish Lapphunds.

Home to Australia's First Grand Champion -Grand Ch Staalon Bestseller (Imp Fin). Sadly deceased May 2005-far too young! Now we are home to Manu - Grand Ch Lapinlumon Mundus (Imp Fin) who is our newest Grand Champion and multi Reserve in Show winner.

Breeder of "Blaze" - four time winner of the Melbourne Royal Best of Breed.

Breeder of the youngest Best In Group lapphunds. Laani who also won Reserve in show at 9 months and Ollie who won Best in Group at 8 1/2 months and winner of 2007 Brisbane Royal Opposite Sex Puppy in Show.

All Lapphunds owned by us are health tested and DNA screened. Puppies are vaccinated, reared in our home, sold with vetrinary health checks and ongoing contact with the breeder is highly recommended along with regular update of photos.

Meeko, our first Finnish Lapphund, joined the pack in August 2005 and it was a match made in heaven.

Although a spitz breed by definition they are oh so similar to our Aussies in all the ways that count.

Our second Lappy kicked off her show career with a bang, winning Baby Puppy in Show her first weekend out.

Finnish Lapphunds are still only a rare breed in Australia. My introduction to the breed was with BLAZE Aust.Ch Theldaroy Im not Wild .HIT. from the second litter born in Australia bringing Australia's population of lapphunds at the time to 15. I have imported from Finland a bitch Aust Ch. Viksalan Jiella (Macey) who arrived in Australia in October 2003, making our population 33 and a male Alaska Teelikamentten Iikka (Imp FNL)in 2007, bringing our population of Lapphunds to 141 . This is a wonderful breed with all great charactaristics of a malamute without a ounce of aggression. Smart, quick and alert, the Lapphund is a perfect pet, working dog or show dog.

Having admired this breed from afar for many years, I obtained my first Lappie in 2003. I have been enthralled and captivated by this intelligent, sweet tempered and simply, beautiful breed ever since. Having been a registered breeder for nearly twenty years and involved with several other breeds over that time, Magpielane is now exclusively devoted to the stunning Finnish Lapphund.

The number of Lappies that bless our home now totals seven, three of which I have imported. All my dogs are much loved pets and companions, an integral part of the daily life of my family.

All breeding stock are fully health screened, with copies of health test results provided to all prospective owners. Puppies are vet checked, microchipped and VCA registered. They are health guaranteed and lovingly raised within the family home. Puppy purchasers are provided with a comprehensive puppy information pack and after placement support is always available. Prospective owners are carefully selected.

Magpielane is a member of the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria and a proud signatory to its highly regarded Breeding Program and Code of Ethics.

The Watersedge family has been involved in Show dogs for decades.
The first litter under the Watersedge prefix was born in 1996.
Our first Finnish Lapphund, Grand Ch. Theldaroy Wild Not Me (Laani) became part of the Watersedge family in February 2002.
Watersedge Kennels is still able to claim that we are showcasing Australia's youngest Runner-Up To Best in Show at All Breeds level. Laani remains the only female in Australia to be awarded the title of Grand Champion.
Our first Finnish Lapphund litter was born from our first import in 2005 - Ch. Fidelis Haltiatar (imp FIN) to FIN/LTU Ch. Fidelis Alias Amicus. Her brood of 6 puppies have gone on to make their own mark on the Finnish Lapphund breed in Australia.
Watersedge has produced several litters since then. We don't breed that often and when we do it is for a specific purpose.
We have been blessed with the first cream puppies to be born in Australasia and also some with more unusual colours and markings. We strive to breed typey, sound, healthy puppies and as such all of our dogs are hip and elbow x-rayed and scored, prcd-PRA tested clear and frequently undergo ACES eye tests.
Our puppies are all placed in homes with DNA confirmation of parentage and prcd-PRA clear status. Health results for the parents are readily available to puppy purchasers.
Our dogs are treated as members of our family, they are not banished to kennels. Our puppies are house reared.

Taigakoira Kennels is a small kennel (Melbourne, Vic) dedicated to our wonderful Finnish Lapphunds (Lappies). We keep our kennel small deliberately in order to give each of our dogs the inidvidual attention they deserve. While our Lappies are in the showring, they are first and foremost members of our family who live with us and accompany us, as we love just being with them and having fun!

We do not breed often, but when we do our focus is on temperament, type and health. Our dogs are tested PRA clear and are hip and elbow scored. They are regularly health checked, including eye tested by an ACES qualified vet, prior to any breeding.

When we breed, our puppies are raised in a typical family environment where they are accustomed to normal family life, and early socialisation is a priority. We also provide dedicated Breeder support to the owners of our puppies for the life of their Lappie.

As registered breeders and active members of the Lappie community, breeder members of the Finnish Lapphund Club we adhere to all Codes of ethics and conduct. We set high standards for ourselves and we are happy to have our dogs judged accordingly in whatever activities we are involved in.

We are a small kennel located in the south east outskirts of Melbourne, and are breeders, exhibitors and addicts of all things Finnish Lapphund.

All of our dogs are first and foremost a part of our family - we specifically keep our kennel small so we can achieve this. Our pets live indoors with us, they accompany us on our travels - and we accompany them to shows, obedience and play dates!

Theldaroy Great Expectations "Demi" is our first Lappie and we hope to be involved in both conformation and dog sports with her. Dog sports require excellent structure in order to compete safely and fulfill the dog's potential which is what we hope to produce in the future.

Demi has passed her Delta Therapy Dog test in 2010, at only 16 mths of age, and will begin visiting nursing homes in 2011. This is a testament to her wonderful temperament, and versatility.

Finnish Lapphunds are an inquisitive breed that enjoy being out and about with their pack and at the end of the day lounging in front of the tv.
Our lappie is packed with everything – from enjoying the agility training to roaming along on a walk in the evening.

I believe in healthy mental and physical stimulisation, and i enjoy taking my dogs along with me. My dogs are my close 'children' and live inside as well as outside.

Stumbling across the breed by chance in 2007, it was two years later that we welcomed our first Finnish Lapphund, "Mischa" (Aus Ch. Armahani Bloodstone Bilaidit) into our home in 2009, and the second, "Dolce" (Aus Ch. Armahani Crystal Caibmat) in 2010. The Finnish Lapphund is everything we could want in a companion and as a bonus loves training for competition too. Having obtained their conformation titles, we will continue to campaign this delightful breed at the odd Canberra area show, however, we've turned our focus to obedience and other dog sports. Lumottu is the Finnish word for Enchanted and that is what sums up a Finnish Lapphund for me, Enchanting.

I fell in love with the breed in 2009 and have since added two into my household. Along with my dogs I enjoy my weekends attending conformation shows as well as obedience classes.

Lappies fit into a household with ease. Happy to be out and about or sleeping on the couch.
