"Not Just A Show Dog".
7/2/1999 – 28/11/2011
“Apu” was not only a show dog he was also a willing partner for many a child handler. He was not a typical Shiba Inu as he exhibited a laid back gentlemanly approach to life from a very early age. He was a unique little fellow who seemed to love all humanity.
As “Apu” matured he became even more of a sweet & gentle dog, so much so that he spent almost 7 years of his life visiting with the frail and elderly, mainly at the Playford Village Aged Care Facility in Adelaide. When he arrived at the facility he seemed to be on a mission, and that was, to help the Aged & Frail to enjoy life just that little bit more.
He was loved so much by the Residents who would await his arrival with excitement & anticipation. He would position himself so the Aged & Frail could pet and stroke him with ease. He was especially gentle with them and would take any morsel of food offered so carefully.
He seemed to sense when someone needed to spend that little bit of extra time with him and he willingly gave them special attention. “Apu” couldn’t talk so he used his “Shiba” smile and soft expression to convey his compassion and understanding.
Even after a break from visiting, to renew his coat, "Pooh" remembered exactly where he was going and what was expected of him.
He gave his all from his heart and will be sadly missed by the many people whose life he became a part of.
Rest In Peace our little “Pooh Bear”.
