Jewel started off her show career with best Puppy of Breed at the Royal Adelaide Show in 2000. She then had a break from the show ring to mature and fulfil maternal duties. She received her first points towards her Australian Championship title in April 2004 (at 4 years of age) when she won Challenge bitch and Opposite Aus Bred In Show at the RRC Inc Championship Specialty, under breed specialist Miss Cyndy Burton from Starridge RR's.
Critique: "This bitch epitomises moderation, nicely put together, well balanced, moderate rear and front angulation, moves true with an easy gait, arched neck lays well into the shoulder, with pleasing expression, head planes and proportions correct, topline strong with correct muscling along the back and long muscle in the thigh, I would just like to see a bit more of her all over."
She finished off her title in October 2004 with only 6 months of showing. In April 2004 she also won Best Exhibit In Show at the RRC Inc 2004 Open Show (entry of 77) under judge Ms S Butler from NSW. She was also trained Jewel up to Level 4 obedience.
Jewel was a wonderful mother to her puppies and without her we would not have had many great Ridgebacks in the show ring and in the home. Most notably in the show ring she produced Ch Shakuru Nufn Butahoundog ET (Presley) who was never unplaced and won 2 x Runner-up Best of Breeds at Royals. He shone in the specialty ring winning 4 Class In Shows (including a National) and Reserve Challenge dog. He also went on to win multiple class in Group and Show in the All Breeds arena.
Jewel won Multi All Breeds Class In Group awards at Championship Show level and Multi Specialty Class In Show awards.
Her legacy will live on here at Shakuru with her daughters Shakuru Super Nova (Nova) and Shakuru Scarlett Jewel (Ruby). RIP sweet girl....
