Inheritance : AUTOSOMAL RECESSIVE trait


CLEAR TO CLEAR = Offspring WILL BE 100% CLEAR

CLEAR TO CARRIER = Offspring WILL BE 50% CLEAR + 50% CARRIERS

CLEAR TO AFFECTED = Offspring WILL BE 100% CARRIERS

CARRIER TO CARRIER = Offspring WILL BE 25% CLEAR + 25% AFFECTED + 50% CARRIERS

CARRIER TO AFFECTED = Offspring WILL BE 50% CARRIERS + 50% AFFECTED


- Shar Pei auto-inflammatory disease (SPAID)
is an inherited disease affecting the Shar Pei breed.

We are happy to announce Marilyn is N/SPAID.

SPAID is characterised by multiple signs of inflammation including Familial Shar-Pei Fever (FSF), Arthritis, Vesicular Hyaluronosis, Otitis and Amyloidosis.

There are three possible test results: N/N (Clear) which means that the dog does not carry the mutation and it has no increased risk of developing the disease. N / SPAID (Carrier): the dog carries one copy of the mutation and it has an increased risk of developing the disease although may not develop the disease. SPAID / SPAID : the dog carries two copies of the mutation and it has a high risk of developing the disease.
