Australian Champion Moorquail Devilkin UD AD JD ET
Jake, originally purchased as a family pet, was my introduction to this wonderful, versatile breed.
Starting our journey together in the conformation ring, Jake gained his show title easily, winning some large best of breeds along the way, even though I was very much a novice handler.
But the obedience ring has proved to be Jake's forte. Whilst it took us some time to get our act together in Novice, it's in the senior classes he has shone. Gaining his Open (CDX) title in 5 trials, I commenced his UD training whilst pregnant, and trialled him whilst having a new baby, Jake gained his UD title in just 10 months of trialling. A testament to his ability given I was very limited in my training time with him. Along the way he won the Utility B class at the 2006 ACT Obedience titles and then won the Utility A class at the 2007 ACT Obedience titles shortly after gaining his title.
In the Open ring, Jake is a multi trial winner. Some of his wins include:
2006 German Shorthaired Pointer National - 1st Place & Best in Trial (195/200)
2005 ACTCA State Obedience Titles - 1st place Open titled class (195/200)
2004 German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Victoria Obedience Trial - 1st place (193/200)
In addition to obedience, Jake has also competed in agility, jumping, flyball, Gundog Working Tests and Retrieving trials - winning or placing in all of these events. We have also trained in sledding, undertaken the Endurance test, and done many obedience/agility/flyball demonstrations at school fetes.
Jake exemplifies the versatility of this breed. He has an exuberant nature and is an outstanding family companion with a love for life and a passion for retrieving (and food!).
He is the sire/grandsire of Runner up in Show, Best in Group, Runner up in Group, class in show/group, obedience/tracking winners, rough shooting companions and wonderful family members.
