Sneaky, low-down and conniving .... all wrapped into a sweet-looking package. Spice, like many of her progeny from her two Oakridge litters, was a determined little hunting machine. Fairly plain to look at, she was very soundly conformed, and beautifully smooth on the move - attributes which contributed to her attaining a National Specialty Runner-up Best in Show award in 1998 from the Veteran class at the tender age of 9 years. She was my first "show" dog, my first "all purpose" dog, and dam to (amongst others) my beloved Dual Champion, Jason. Spice was actually the dam of 2 Dual Champions (one retrieving, one field), another individual Retrieving Champion, and 4 show champions including Best in Show and multiple Best in Group winners. She has Grand (show) Champion, Tracking Champion and Obedience Champion (a Dual Ch) grand progeny. Best of all though, she was a spunk, right to the end - all 14 1/2 years of her life.
