Oxford is a friendly, ball-loving dog. He is 'easy to live with'. Oxford comes from a loving home where he was toilet trained, crate trained, and given every luxury. He would be suitable to a home with an older person.

Oxford had recently started 'noseworks' training, and was doing well. This may be a sport his new people would like to continue with him.

Oxford was sadly surrendered to our rescue as he and another male border terrier in the household were fighting. For this reason, we are looking for a single-dog home for Oxford. We would hate for history to repeat itself.

Oxford has previously shown some reactivity (i.e. barking) towards other dogs. Dog Consultancy will provide a free consult in order to assist giving Oxford's new people skills in managing Oxford's reactivity. We understand that Oxford only barks at some dogs, not all, and he is easy to manage.

Oxford's people have fed him on a gluten-free diet, due to concerns for CECS (a breed-specific condition that can be triggered by gluten). There is no diagnostic criteria for CECS, and therefore it is hard to know if Oxford truly has the condition. We recommend that he continues on a gluten-free diet.

Oxford has been on medication (Apoquel) for allergies. This medication costs approximately $30 per month. Oxford's low adoption fee is reflective of this ongoing cost. (Note: It is also possible that his new home doesn't have the allergen(s) that trigger his skin reactions, in which case he may be able to weaned from medication!)

Oxford's adoption fee is $300.

Oxford has a low-level bite history and so we will not place him a home with children less than 10 years old.

Oxford is available for adoption in South Australia. We are not willing to fly Oxford to homes interstate 'sight unseen'.
