Hi, Shokuma Akitas have been around for about 15 years. We
have done our best to promote our breed and one of our biggest achievements was when the Japan kennel club, which is the Akitas home of origin, took a picture of "Midas" at the Melbourne Royal Show and used it as the blueprint for their breed standard for the "American Akita" The Japan Kennel Club, has 161,000 members and is the country of origin for the Akita breed. They used Midas' picture for about 4 or so years as their breed standard. It is a huge achievement for a South Australian bred dog and a credit to Midas' breeder Ken and Thelma Taylor, Kyooma Akitas, who were the first to bring Akitas to both Australia and the UK. Midas is part of Shokuma Akitas. Our achievements include: over 300 Best of Breed awards, and more than 150 Group/Show awards. Aust's Number One Ranked Akita for 1998, SA's only Grand Champion Akita, Adelaide Royal Show "Best in Group" winner 1998 and SA's Top Spitz dog for 98 & 99.

He won RUBOB & POB at CANBERRA ROYAL 09 and went on to win RUBOB & Puppy Of The Day at SYDNEY ROYAL 09.

(Sept 09) He has just come back from Melbourne where he won BEST IN SHOW at the Akita Specialty under breed specialist Mrs Meg Purnell-Carpenter (UK). At that same show he officially became a Aust Champion.

He has also won numerous Class In Group and Class In Show awards. We are extremely happy with what he has accomplished so far & look forward to what the future brings for this young dog.

Our life is our akitas and we make no appologies for that and look forward to many more years with this magnificent breed.. Jeda has been shown at both Launceston & Hobart Royal shows 2008 & Achieved Best of Breed @ Hobart Royal(14mths of age)her sister Indi gaining Runner up Best of Breed Jeda also attained Runner up Best of Breed @ Launceston Royal & Junior in Group(13 mths of age) what a girl.She has it all!! A large strong bitch @ 26" tall & weighing 48kg . The future has come watch as Jeda's pups make their show debut in 2010.

Due to commitments in the welping box Jeda missed the Royals in 2009 but her sister went challenge bitch & RU best of breed @ both shows.
