This rare breed (13 only in Oz so far, including present five pups), has a bright future here as a family dog. Friendly, easy-going, exceptionally good with children. Their breed name means "low to the ground, wire-haired", from Brittany in France. They are usually a vibrant, golden red, sometimes a softer more sandy shade. Weight up to 15kg, medium-short legs. Lovely long ears and gentle expressive face. Minimum coat care. Like Beagles and Wire-haired Dachshunds, they are scent hounds and love country rambling, wading in dams and streams and ditches, rabbiting (real or pretend), beach walks and picnics in the park. Everywhere they go in public they are much admired, though most people they meet at present think they are cross Beagle, Dachsie or Golden Cocker!
