We sometimes have long & smooth coat pups for sale. Our pups dont leave until they are at least 13 weeks old.
All of our pups have outstanding temperaments and will only be offered to the best homes.
They have all grown up with other dogs big and small so there are no issues with socialisation.
All of our pups love everyone and have no issues bonding with new people.
Puppies are wormed, microchipped, flea treated, vet checked and DESEXED (NOT NEGOTIABLE) before going to their new forever homes.

AmigoReal is an Accredited Long Coat Chihuahua kennel in Christchurch, New Zealand. Taking into account the origin of the Chihuahua breed, “Amigo Real” translates as “Royal Friend” in Spanish.
As an Accredited Breeder, we health test for Eyes, Heart and Patellas, which is mandatory for this breed under the Accredited Breeders scheme. At AmigoReal, we go one step further and are currently the only breeder for Chihuahuas in New Zealand testing for Hip Dysplasia, Legg-Calve-Perthes, and Thyroid (T4), which we started doing in 2020. We also DNA test our Chihuahuas with Embark, who check for 206+ Genetic Conditions: 5 Breed-Relevant Genetic Conditions and 201+ Additional Genetic Conditions which includes Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Growing up my introduction to a life shared with dogs was via my family and our German Shepards. We spent much time training and competing in both trials and the show ring.
As a young adult I welcomed the first of many wonderful Saluki's in to my life.
Today we are totally controlled by our loving Chihuahua's.
We are a small but competitive team that enjoy life together both in and out of the show ring.
Our dogs may be little Champions on paper but at home they live the life of a real dog in the house and out in the gardens.
We have been lucky to have had the opportunity to obtain some lovely dogs with exceptional breeding behind them and we look forward to what the future may hold.

Our dogs are DNA screened for known genetic issues, heart, eye and patella problems, hip scored & bred above and beyond the requirements of the Dogs NZ Accredited Breeders Scheme. Our dogs are also currently part of a La Trobe University long term study tracking the correlation between breeder practices and puppy development.

We have been involved in the pedigree dog world since 1988 and predominately breed and show toy poodles but our love affair with chihuahuas started in 2004 when a smooth coat tri male, who we named Hardy, came to live with us and be shown to his Australian Championship title. After his passing in 2017 a lovely a cream long coat girl called "Nala" came to this live with to be titled well this has ignited something is us we now also co-own Nala's very cheeky son "Porter" Rayvale Ima One In a Million with Val and have added a smooth Tri male called "Morris" Chaniekan Mafia Boss to our home.
We will be breeding both long and smooth coat chihuahuas sparingly and for happy healthy companions. All our puppies are bought up within our family home.
Toyopet has been involved with chihuahuas for over twenty years . I have imported long and smooth coats from the Bramvers Kennels in Japan . Showing offspring from these dogs with good results .
