We have been involved in flatcoats since 1985 - showing and retrieving. Our dogs are hip/elbow scored and have clear eye certificates. Temperament and soundness are paramount in our breeding program. We are approved breeders of the Flatcoated Retriever Assn of Vic. Home of the first SA flatcoats to
win membership of the Association's 500 Club in 2000, to win Top Interstate Show Dog 2000, and Top Dual Purpose Flatcoat of the Year 1999 and to win both challenges at Adelaide Royal Show (in competition). In 2006 our Scottish dog Aust Ch Branchalwood Portleathan (Imp UK)(Porter) was Top Interstate Show Dog of the Flatcoated Retriever Assn of Vic - his kennel mate Aust Ch Sherepoint Banks N Braes (AI) (Banker) taking out second place. Porter (2005) and Banker (2009)are still the only SA flatcoat males to have won Best in Show at the Flatcoat Specialty Show. Our dogs and their progeny have now taken out challenges at Royal Shows in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Canberra,Sydney and Brisbane. In December 2008 Jean gained her Licence to become a Judge for the Gundog Group, Group 3. Sadly we lost Porter in May 2009, and he is missed by us and our dogs. 2012 has started out well for us with Tucker - Ch Kentucky Bluegrass taking out Best in Group and Junior in Show - his second group on his last show in Junior class.

Bushman Kennels have been breeding & exhibiting this beautiful breed since 1988. During that time we have created many breed firsts in Austalia and set many breed records!

We are the only Flat Coat Kennel in Australia to have campaigned 5 All Breeds Best in Show winners and bred another two! We have campaigned four generations of Grand Champion bitches! In total we have campaigned 10 Grand Champions, all of them Multi Best in Group winners and bred in total 11 Grand Champions and 35 Champions. We made up the first bitch and dog Grand Champions in Australia, campaigned the only dog to win 4 All Breeds Best in Shows, Gr Ch Explicit Heaven's On Fire (imp Swed) and the only bitch to win 2 All Breeds Best in Shows Gr Ch Bushman Talk About Lucky. Our dogs have won the Flat Coated Retriever Associations Dog of the Year Competition since its inception apart from 2006 and in 2008 we gained No 1 Flat Coated Retriever in Australia and South Australia with our bitch Gr Ch Bushman Hit Or Miss

In 2009 our bitch Ch Bushman No Trouble Flying had a record breaking year, winning more than any other Flat Coat puppy in Australian history, 'Fly' was FCRA Puppy of the year for 2009 and won the bitch CC and Runner up to Best in Show at the Flat Coat Championship Show in 2009

WE ONLY ever breed when we believe the time is right for our own next show dog and that the mating will improve the breed however are happy to discuss the breed and our breeding plans at any time!

We commenced showing with golden retrievers in 1978 but have owned and shown flatcoats since 1987 after seeing our first flatcoat at a United Retriever Club show in England in 1986 where we fell in love with the breed. Our aim is to produce dual purpose dogs who have the outgoing temperament that flat coated retrievers are known for. Our current dogs are from Swedish and English lines with our foundation breeding stock coming from Bushman Kennels. We produced our first flat coated retriever litter in November 2006 with Bushman Dream Come True producing eight lovely puppies to our best in show winner, Grand Champion Bushman The Deputy. From this litter we have three show champions, Ch Firebush Sergeant Pepper, Ch Firebush Let It Be and Ch Firebush Dizzy Miz Lizzy. Ch Firebush Sergeant Pepper also gained his CCD obedience title and his restricted retrieving title, all before two years of age. He gained his NZ show title in 2010 and is a multi best in show winner. In 2009, Gimmick, (Explicit The Fame Game), joined us from Sweden. Gimmick has settled happily in to life at Firebush. In August 2009 we mated Ch Firebush Dizzy Miz Lizzy to Gr Ch Explicit No Trouble At All (imp Swe). This mating produced eleven puppies. From this litter we kept a black puppy bitch Firebush Billie Piper who is showing promise in retrieving and is also well on the way to her show title.

I have loved Flat Coats since I got my first pet Flat Coat in 1987, since then I have had 2 more beautiful Flat Coats before I started seriously showing. Ch Sovanna Black Brooke, was my first Australian champion. Now I am showing Ch Skyehaven Fortune Shines (Zada) who recently joined the 500 Club (FCR Assn of Vic) for gaining 500 challenge points, at under 3 years of age. Zada is in partnership with Tina Corbell (Skyehaven Kennels). Zada in 2007, won BEST IN GROUP at an all breed Championship show, and has taken her points to over 700. Bailey (Skyehaven Flying Drunk), competing against quality dogs including his sire: Ch Flatterhaft Steal Or Borrow (imp swd) did extemely well gaining his title with ease and winning a RU Best In Group. I also own in Partnership with Tina Corbell (Skyehven Kennels) Beauty Nights Diamond Dog (imp swd) Kei. Kei is very successful already winning many class in shows and class in groups. We have since imported another dog and bitch in partnership, Almanza Party Crasher (Parthy) and O'Flanagan Go For Broke(Tackla) both also from Sweden, and both are already class in group winners and looking very promising. Zada had puppies late June 2009, from this I kept a bitch Poweron Outrajus Fortune (Rajus), who is out of BIS RUBIS Gr Ch Flatterhaft Steal Or Borrow (imp swd)

My first Flat Coat arrived in 1984 and although Tara was no show dog, she taught me how wonderful the temperament of this breed is.
1993 saw the arrival of Inji into my life and the introduction to the conformation and breeding world. Her first litter produced Tali, my first male. Inji and Tali (hence the kennel name) were a delight to live with and were my first two champions.

The Trevalley dogs live in the beautiful Moutere valley on the out skirts of Nelson. Our family run a small holding and canine hydrotherapy pool which our dogs love to use. We have shared our lives with this enchanting and magical breed for 22 years and they are very important members of our family. From assisting us on the farm to curling up on the sofa with you at night they like to be a part of everything we do. We consider it very important that our dogs are dual purpose, able to compete both succesfully in the show ring and also out in the field. We have been thrilled with all the results our dogs have achieved in 2009 and we hope 2010 will be just as good if not better.

Nordic joined Greysouthen in September 2008 from the renowned Flatterhaft Kennels in Sweden. In the short time since, he has proven to be one of the most consistent young Flatcoats to enter the showrings here in Australia. Nordic is already a MULTIPLE BEST of BREED, MULTIPLE CLASS in GROUP, MULTIPLE CLASS in SHOW, MULTIPLE SWEEPSTAKES winner and of course BEST IN GROUP winning dog under recognised 'Rare Breed' Gundog Judges.

Nordic attained his Australian Championship Title gained at just over 12mths of age and making him, what is believed to be, one of the youngest Flatcoats in Australia to achieve such recognition (under the current CH: system). With only limited exposure and without the need for massive advertising, Nordic is well established on the National Dogzonline Competition.

Nordic is UNDEFEATED at Breed level in the ACT and Victoria and has only been beaten once each in NSW and Qld. Lets not beat around the bush - thats not a bad achievment for a youngster .. is it ??

International, Interstate, All Breeds and Specialist Gundog Judges have all recognised his outstanding conformation qualities, stunning headpiece, correct size, his superb balance, extrordinary movement and the most delightful willing-to-please attitude - and best of all .. he can and does actively work in the field like ALL FCRs should !!

Hips: AVA Grade 1
Elbows: 0:0 Normal
Eyes: Clear of Glaucoma
Color: BB (Not carrying Brown/Liver)

Our aim is to keep within every aspect that makes a Flatcoat so special, from their happy outgoing nature, their working ability down to the breed standard.

I am a strong supporter of positive, motivational training and we successfully show and compete in obedience, tracking and retrieving trials.

Our dogs are part of our family and puppies are whelped at home and lovingly raised in a family environment.

Kajsa's first litter to the handsome BIS GrCh Flatterhaft Steal or Borrow (Imp. Swd) from Skyehaven Kennels was born in 2009. All puppies have now gone to their new homes and we wish them all the best.

Flat Coated Retrievers are an intellegent, playful and fun loving breed. They are dogs with an inate sense of humour and fun which carries through to old age. However they are also very intellgent, sensible, confident and eager to please. Most people who have owned one will always be loyal to the breed. They make a great family pet so long as they are given lots of attention and excercise. They like to be kept mentally active. The breed became popular in the UK amongst gamekeepers due to its excellent working ability, they make a great gun dog.
