I started with a white Mini in '63. I knew nothing about showing or clipping at the time but soon learnt with help. "Tiki" eventually gained his title, obtaining a Best in Show along the way.
Traveling to England in '67 following an accident in '65, I discovered silvers & bought 2 Miniature girls, Ch Silver Sauceena of Sylisdon (Sauce) & Ch Silver Solitaire of Ambeal (Scamp) both gaining their titles quickly in Qld. An apricot toy bitch also joined the team. My Prefix, SYLISDON, was established in England, but was transfered to Aussie when my breeding program began. In 1971 I imported a silver boy, ChSnowstar Silver Chivalry, who after 6 months in Quarantine in Brisbane, went Best in Show 1st time out!
Two white girls from NZ(Helambda kennels) followed.
Silver Toys started around '70. Ch Sylisdon Greyfriars (Skipper - 9")was titled within 6 months after winning many in Group awards & a RU in Show while still a puppy. An apricot toy (from my import) Sylisdon Golden Doll became a Ch. in 7 months; this was unusual as she was only 20cm (7.5")!. She too did it by winning numerous in group awards!
In '85 I moved to Geelong and dropping my Sylisdon prefix in '90 for HYTHERE. Toto (pictured, 8.75" went Best in Show at the Toy Poodle Soc. NSW in '93, after taking Dog Challenge at Melb. Royal. These days I have to rely on handlers to show my 'kids' but I take great pleasure in selling pups & helping newcomers to the show ring; & learning that they have titled a Hythere puppy.
