I have been showing and breeding beagles for over 20 years, owning and breeding multiple champions including BIS/BISS Grand Champion Orobay Backstreet Boy, Philippine and Aust. Ch. Orobay Back to Reality, BISS winner and Australasian Sweepstakes winner 2006 Aust. Ch. Orobay Optical Precision and his litter sister BISS/R-up BISS and Australasian Sweepstakes R-up 2006 Aust. Ch. Orobay Optical Magic. Their younger brother UK & Supreme Ch. Orobay Graceful Triumph AOM(pictured) won 14 CC's out of a possible 18 during 12 months of showing in the UK. He is also the first Ausralian bred beagle to become UK Champion. He won 5 specialty Best in Shows and Best of Breed at Crufts 2013.

My aim is to breed quality, healthy beagles that are genetically sound and with great temperaments. To have a champion or two along the way is a bonus.

We are a small kennel in southern NSW.We are an hour the Sydney side of Wagga.We are members of the Canine Council,the Beagle Club of NSW and the Southern Region Hound Club. Ceugant Beagle are located on the sunny Northcoast of NSW. As you will see when you flick through our website our dogs are our pride and joy, who not only do well in the show rings but are much loved pets in wonderful homes.

Ceugant Beagles are not kennelled but contained in their half acre paddock complete with shade sails and single beds (in their 3 bay shed), allowing them to run and play together all day. Due to this freedom they have developed great temperaments, great muscling & movement and they are fit and healthy. Qualities, which have helped Ceugant Beagles attain the success they have had in the show ring, including 6 Best in Shows at Beagle specialties, the best award a breeder could hope to achieve. Winning by all means is not everything, however these shows are a good indication to us that we are breeding the best quality that we can and will help guide us to improve our beagles for years to come.

Ceugant does not breed many litters to obtain their quality we just ensure that we study the bloodlines we intend to use for the best quality we can attain. Our 2 sometimes 3 litters a year, are bred with the intention of obtaining a quality puppy to continue in the show ring and to continue the quality of Ceugant Beagles. The TAMBALLA prefix was first established in 1974, then resurrected in 1996 after an 18 year absence from the show-ring. Since resuming, 12 x AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONS have been produced and 1 x Czech / Slovenian CHAMPION along with many In GROUP, In SHOW and SPECIALITY wins being brought home.

Tamballa is also home to the World's ONLY recorded LURE COURSER OF MERIT BEAGLE, a title I am extremely proud of.
Added to this have been 3 x Lure Coursing FIELD CHAMPIONS. Radar is now also a LC VETERAN OF MERIT.

Usually only one litter a year is produced, aiming for the highest quality. Temperament, soundness (and general cuteness) being a priority.
All my puppies are raised within the home so are well socialized.

Melodale Beagles is a small personal concern, and while we enjoy showing occasionally, and other dog sports, breeding is not for money or acclaim. I usually only have maybe one or two litters per year, and will be striving to ensure health, quality, sound movement and structure, and excellent temperament in all that I breed. Starting with quality dogs meant that a good foundation was laid, and I will be carefully considering what bloodlines are included in my future breeding program. Whether show dogs or pets, Beagles in Australia should to be bred to the UK standard, and that is my aim. Puppies may be available from time to time only to suitable families and homes. We have relocated to the country, about half an hour from Bendigo, where the Beagles now have more room to run, sniff and play.

I have had and shown Beagles for 12 years. My prefix "Teviotdale" was an easy choice for me as my parents loved this area in the Border Country in Scotland.
I did have a Beagle when I lived in the U.K. and brought him to Australia when I came over in 1985. Jodie was a very special dog and was very much loved. He died at the age of 15 1/2.
My first Australian Beagle I bought and still have is Kate and her pedigree name is (Ch) Jansline Crystal Diamond. I have to say a big thank you to Sue and Steve for my very special girl. Kate was the start of my breed line and her progeny have done her proud. My Beagles are very much family house dogs. My main aim has always been to breed dogs of sound temperament to enable others to enjoy the pleasure of owning one of these special hounds.

I breed selectively for the show ring, but not every puppy born will be good enough for that. My puppies have excellent temperaments, and while they sleep inside at night, spend all day outside in a half acre paddock running in a pack. This ensures they are healthy, strong and know how to get along with other Beagles. My goal has always been to breed Beagles that are true to the breed standard.

All my breeding stock are DNA tested for the full range of genetic problems that Beagles may be affected by, including Lafora Epilepsy, Factor 7, IGS, NCCD, CRD, PKD and MLS.
