Lyngala established in Victoria in 1979, with our wonderful show cats (long haired), in 1980 we joined the KCC (now the VCA) and we added dogs to our life, in 1982 we received our breeders certificate, and registered the name "Lyngala Kennels". Dogs have taken over our life and we no longer show our cats. We have continued our unbroken devotion and dedication in our chosen passion/hobby/love. We only breed with carefully selected dogs, all our puppies are house raised with 24/7 attention, they come with a health certificate and have had several thorough vet checks, to ensure your peace of mind.

We have been breeding and showing Lhasa Apsos for 53 years. We started in NSW, then moved to South Australia and have been in Victoria since 1986. We breed for type and temperament and our babies are raised in the house where we also have Tibetan Terriers and a cat. Our son has an Irish Wolfhound, so puppies get used to having a big dog around.. Rod has his Championship license for Groups 5, 6 and 7 and has judged in Denmark, England and a number of times in New Zealand plus Australia.

We are always willing to talk to anyone interested in this fascinating Tibetan breed.

PLEASE NOTE: We are NOT a commercial enterprise, we are HOBBY Breeders/Exhibitors of the chosen breed we love, we devote a lot of time and energy into producing the next generation for ourselves primarily, we do NOT breed for the puppy market, nor for income based purposes, on occasions puppies surplus to our requirements will be available to loving homes, and on some occasions to other breeders, this is a sport and hobby we enjoy and love alongside our wonderful canine companions

We do not show our girls,. The ability to have a show dog or pet is totally up to your lifestyle. We love our LHASAS and we love breeding our dogs. The journey from the time of mating, to when the pups are born, to when they leave with their new family, is most pleasurable and so rewarding.

When you enquire about our puppies, we do need you to tell us about yourself, your family, pets and envioroment. It is most important for us to have these details as our puppies are our babies. Originally from Tibet where they were a highly regarded watchdog in the palaces the Lhasa Apso is now primarily a family companion who loyally protects his family from danger. Although small in stature the Lhasa is a sturdy and independent dog.
Lhasas have hair instead of fur and do not shed like other dogs which makes them hypoallergenic and perfect for inside and for people with allergies.
The Lhasa is an obedient and devoted companion. They are very intelligent dogs who have a friendly and playful nature. They are an exceptional breed for both adults and children alike and will make a fantastic addition to any family.
