Their independent minds, heavy shedding coats, prey drive and adventurous nature means they are not for everyone but I love this breed. After living with an Elkhound I think no other dog ever really makes the cut. Loyal, protective, proud, robust and bold they are nonetheless incredibly loving, intelligent, funny, gentle, people loving dogs.

My Elkhounds are DNA tested clear/non carrier for all the known Elkhound specific hereditary disorders as well as more than a hundred other hereditary canine disorders. They carry some of the most successful bloodlines in Australia and the world. They live inside with me but love going on outings and to shows. In 2018 we will be engaging in training for obedience, tracking and hopefully trying out herding and agility.
The last Skalagrim litter was born in 2016 and all have gone on to wonderful homes. We are expecting our next litter of puppies in 2018.

Next Litter Planned: February, 2018
