After a show career where our delightful red terror gained close to 600 points a break was needed.
Time to show that she is not just a pretty face trotting round the ring for 90 seconds but is a true representative of the German Pinscher breed - versatile, stable and trainable.
Fergie, who is highly intelligent, and I will try some different “sports” in the 2026 year.
The German Pinscher originated in Germany as a versatile, multi-purpose farm dog—often described as an "all-purpose" working dog.
They were used for vermin control, guarding, and assisting with livestock management or herding on farms. Breed literature notes descent from early European herding and guardian types, aligning with historical roles in stock movement/control.
To honour the origins of the breed we have started Herding Training - pending the outcome of a submission to have German Pinschers listed as an eligible breed Fergie will be eligible to compete in Herding Trials.
We have also commenced Scent Work and Sprint Dog trials.
It is going to be an exciting year, watch this space.
