Claire was without a doubt, one of the greatest winning whippets of all time in Australia, measured not only by the number of BIG/BIS wins, but by the Point scores, special events & sweepstakes classes which she also won. Claire always gave her best no matter what the weather, hot, cold, hailing or fine, she showed her head off.Her great qualities were rewarded by breed specialists and all rounders from around the globe.She was awarded 47 BIS 87 BIG 1 BISS 1 RUBISS. She was the first whippet to win a BIS at an Australian Royal obtaining this honour at the 1994 Canberra Royal, in that same year she won "Supreme Winner" at the prestigious South Australian "Battle Of The Champions".
She was the Hound Group Winner 3 times at the prestigious Foundation SA Challenge Cup, qualifying for the event 5 times. Claire was the winner of the SA Whippet & Greyhound Club "Whippet of the Year" an unprecedented 7 times, Hound Club of SA "Shazada Hound of the Year" 3 times, National Dog "Top Whippet" Australia wide on several occasions and "National Top Ten All Breeds" for a number of years. Claire is still, to our knowledge, the only dog of any breed in Australia, to win "BIS on 4 consecutive days" over 1 long weekend. She also won BIS at 3 out of the 4 days on several other occasions. Claire never seemed to age & was still winning BIS awards well into her veteran years. Between the ages of 10 to 11 she won 11 BIG & 5 BIS and was RCC & Veteran in Show at the W & G/H Club specialty as a 12 year old. Great show dog aside, Claire was a sweet, loving, loyal companion who loved to snuggle up in bed at night. Claire was a great ambassador for the breed, she loved everybody and had many fans around the rings. Sweet Claire, I miss you.
