Powerpaws was established in 1993 when I was honoured to bring home Neworder True Faith.
Next was my first show Stafford - CH Hadjibah High Voltage and the rest is history.
Keeping the efforts of breeders before me in mind, I try to breed standard dogs, with the breed traits evident.
Over the years my dogs have been known for their movement and type, and cheeky, outgoing temperaments.
I have been very lucky to have bred some outstanding dogs and have also exported around the world.
Powerpaws have bred champions in many countries and are super proud to have bred an FCI International Champion in Europe.
I have imported when needing new bloodlines or speciifc traits, first Piikki from Finland and my current young man, Joey from South Africa.
Breeding rarely nowdays, I plan to continue breeding the type or Stafford I have loved from the very beginning of my time in the breed.

All Staffords are health tested before being considered as a part of our breeding program including L2, HC and Clinical Eye Examination. Potential puppy homes are screened carefully before we allow a Skybreaker baby to become a part of the family.

I am actively involved with the breed as Secretary and Life Member of the SBTCV Inc. Health testing and responsible ownership is paramount. Skybreaker litters are few and far between however we are always happy to share info on how to find a responsible and ethical breeder. Research on appropriate health tests and responsible breeders should be carefully undertaken before purchasing a Stafford puppy. We are also happy to answer breed related enquiries.

We are avid exhibitors, showing almost on a weekly basis throughout Victoria and occasionally interstate.

We were lucky to start with our boy 'Jack', who we were able to achieve the title of Supreme Champion prior to his 3rd birthday. Then came along our beautiful girl 'Diamond', who we also titled at an early age. From our first litter from Jack and Diamond we were blessed to have our beautiful black and white pied girl 'Queenie" born. Queenie is our first home bred "BEST IN SHOW" winner

All dogs at Handpikd are a very important part of our lives, with a lot of time and love being dedicated to them on a daily basis.

We DO NOT breed for colour and DO NOT breed for the colour blue.

Growing up in a family of avid dog lovers I spent most of my time with my Grans Pugs and the working dogs we had. But through the countless weekends of shows and handling i soon made great friends and met/handled some great animals. Along the way developing a fascination and tremendous love for the Stafford (I think spending so much time next to gorgeous staffies in the group specials classes may have contributed)Then after seeing my first blue I was so mesmerised by her colour and the way she seemed to shimmer, I had to have one and after some searching, research and patience now I we are lucky enough to have been owned by a gorgeous blue/brindle Shelby and her amazing daughters & now granddaughters. And yes they do own us, they have the run of the place and with that cheeky Staffy smile they get whatever they want. I couldn't be happier to promote Staffs and carry on my grans great hard work in breeding quality dogs to a standard. To strengthen our beautiful breed and keep Gilgai kennels reputation strong something Gilgai has always strived for. I have always been amazed by the tenacity and overwhelming presence of the Stafford and will never cease to be amazed by how much they are willing to love and give always. All our Dogs are "free range" and have the run of 5 acres. All our pups are bought up with our kids and adult dogs in a loving nurturing environment
All Our dogs are HC and L2HGA clear by parentage and are bred firstly for beautiful temperment and conformation.
