All dogs that we intend to breed from are health tested for hip and elbow dysplasia, we also screen for cystinuria, results available on request.

We always strive for the best in the breed, health, soundness, solid, typey newfoundlands, with beautifully sweet natures, to the Breed Standard. We breed if we wish to keep something for ourselves, usually once a year.

Breeders of the 1st American Champion

Established in 1989 the Newfashion prefix is held in high regard. We have continued to strive towards a best practice approach which has seen our breeding program go from strength to strength.
Our dogs are recognised locally and overseas as being fine examples of the breed and our stud males have been used extensively to reproduce true bred type in Australia, New Zealand, Italy and the USA.
Puppies are bred from imported lines which we have personally selected to complement our breeding program, they are raised in a family environment with all effort being made to ensure that carry optimal health status.
In order to enhance our breeding program over the years we have imported the following dogs.

Capebass has been established for many years, but we have owned Newfoundlands since 1975.Capebass strives to breed quality, sound Newfoundlands.
To improve our lines we have imported semen and dogs from overseas countries such as Hungry, USA and England. We are committed to breeding quality Newfoundlands, by using such lines as to assist our own.
Out of the litters I've bred I've produced a best in show winner who also won the group at Adelaide Royal, I have also owned a bitch that won best opposite sex at our Newfoundland Championship show, twice. Her daughter went on to win a best in show at our breed open show, Bitch challenge at Melbourne royal and now her pups have gone on to win in group and in show awards all three of which were titled at a young age.

Mekong Kennels has been in operation since 1972. It is situated at St Andrews near Campbelltown.The current owner Sue-Ann Miner was in joint ownership with Shirley Summers for some years prior to Shirley passing away. Sue-Ann has been visiting Aged Care Centres for the past 13 years with the dogs from this kennel. The dogs have appeared in many magazines, newspaper articles and have worked on promotional days in parades and represetning the breed for the business that Sue-Ann manages. Mekong Kennels have bred many champions in the past years. One very successful brown dog Australian Champion Mekong Rustic Warrior. His porgeny still lives on.

At "Ebbenglade" we breed only occasionally , specialising in quality black & brown newfoundlands exhibiting the hallmark beauty, gentleness & intelligence of the newfoundland. Newfoundlands have been a big part of our lives since the early 1980's with many Show Winners,Champions and Obedience Title holders owned by us or carrying the Ebbenglade prefix. Ebbenglade Newfoundlands is situated two hours west of Melbourne Victoria, where each litter is loving raised within the home with the family. On our property, our newfies share their kingdom with our alpaca herd, finnsheep and peacocks. Our dogs enjoy obedience work, showing and above all being "couch potatoes".

Anne (together with husband Bevan) founded Gentle-Bear Newfoundlands in 1983.
We had our first "Newfoundland experience" when we drove into a remote camping ground in the north of Sweden one day during the late summer of 1981. The caretaker's cottage sat at the top of a long flight of steps and a large brown Newfoundland sat "guarding" the door. We sat in the car for at least half an hour hoping someone would come out, when no-one appeared we finally plucked up the courage to walk up the stairs - when we got to the doorway the big brown dog just rolled over begging for a tummy tickle! He spent the rest of the day with us outside our cabin gambling through the forest like a big brown bear. We have imported seven Newfoundlands from Europe and one from Australia, used several other imports at stud and bred nineteen litters. We bred our first litter in 1986. Our association with the Newfoundland Breed began in 1983 with the purchase of our first Newfoundland, beautiful puppy NZ.Ch. Alpenlied Dark Raider, CDX "Khan" who won 2 Specialty BIS and was well known in the Canterbury area for his abilities in obedience, water work and carting. Khan is in the background of most of the litters and champions bred at Newfhaven.

In 1987 we purchased our first import NZ.Ch Planhaven Oceana Roll "Kara", she went on to produce one of our most successful bitches NZ.Ch Newfhaven Black Beauty (Alex), who took In Show at All Breeds Championship Shows, Speciality show and In Group awards and later went on, together with our second import in 1994 NZ.Ch. Waterbear Vic'Torious (Trampus) to breed our most successful Show dog NZ.Ch. Newfhaven TAS' Buffer.

Trampus's most prestigous achievements were Best of Group at NZ Nationals in 1999 and BIS Speciality.

NZ.Ch. Newfhaven TAS' Buffer epitomizes the Newfoundland breed excelling in water/draught work and being to date the only South Island bred Newf to take BIS at All Breeds Championship Show, 5 RBIS and numerous In Group awards.

We are currently successfully campaigning two of his offspring.

Over the past 33 years we have gained much pleasure in the litters we have bred and the friends made in the Newfy and Dog World.

Baywatch Newfoundlands is a small breeding kennel where we aim to breed for soundness and breed type and the sweet Newfie temperament everyone loves. All dogs that we intend to breed from are health tested for hip and elbow dysplasia. We also screen for cystinuria along with heart doppler testing.
In 2017 we moved our dogs and breeding program from New Zealand to Victoria and have successfully registered our kennel prefix with Dogs Victoria and our team of young girls are enjoying participating in conformation showing.

Puppies are sometimes available, we welcome visitors and those interested in owning a puppy bred by us to visit and meet us and our dogs (by appointment only) An application form can be provided to those interested in being considered for a Baywatch puppy.

We have been involved with Newfoundlands since we bought our first Newfoundland Myah (Ebbenglade Salubris) in 2000 from John and Lucy (Ebbenglade Newfoundlands).
Since Falling in love with the breed we have been owned by 7 of these beautiful dogs and are lucky enough to have raised several litters for Ebbenglade Newfoundlands, this has been an invaluable experience and has prepared us for our own breeding program (We cant thank them enough).
Myah gave us our first Champion Piper (Ebbenglade My Immortal) Who achieved her title with very little showing.
We breed very rarely, very selectively and only for the best health, temperament and example of our breed.
