In her younger years “Amba” was not a “cuddly” Shiba Inu, preferring to adopt an arrogant type of attitude especially if you had the gall to pick her up for a cuddle. But, when “She” felt like it a pat it was demanded! Pushing her head under your hand until you submitted to her wishes. Playtime was always when she wanted it and on her terms
She was a notorious runner and had slipping her lead down to a fine art. Then it was game on! She would stay just out of your reach and smile at your futile attempts to put on the lead.

She was the “Matriarch” of the house, and ruled over the Sibes and Shibas with an iron paw. She also became the guard dog and would warn us of any she felt were intruders, this also included anyone walking past the house in the street.

The art of the “Shiba Scream” was perfected by “Amba” who used it whenever she saw anyone she knew and loved. Many a time people had thought they had stepped on her But No! It was just her enthusiastic greeting scream which would continue until you had recognised her and gave her the pat she demanded.

She had an exceptional temperament and was a remarkable representative of the Breed. She attained her Australian Champion Title in 2000 and, her Australian Grand Champion Title in 2006. Along the way she had her first litter and we still have the only off-spring (Australian Champion Aaczar Touch O Darkness “Wombat” ). She had her second and final litter in 2007; the only off-spring (Australian Champion / Neuter Grand Champion Aaczar Midnight Glow “Taz”) was bred specifically for Tara Jones who had handled “Amba” on many occasions and taken her away to many shows.

After much success in the show ring Amba retired to a life of luxury, she was inclined to curl up in a lap, on the couch or any place in the room where she could see you On most weekend she loved going for a drive to get the paper and a cappucino, after she had her share of the cuppa she was content to go back to the couch
