Our Beginnings - We are a small dedicated kennel located in Weipa, Far North Queensland, Australia. We started in Central Queensland and travelled to NQ and FNQ for shows until we moved to NQ and now FNQ. Mahelu is all about "Quality not Quantity" this is what we have strived for since starting in this breed in the 1994.

Our Kennel - Our prefix is derived from the names of our 3 sons. Mahelu Labrador Retrievers focus on quality, soundness and type, but most of all the importance of a true Labrador temperament, drive and willingness to please. All our dogs are health tested.

Our Labradors - Are part of our family, they live in our house, join us on camping adventures & holidays. We breed for ourselves first, this means we only breed to introduce a new member into our family. The other puppies in the litter are destined to become a loyal loving Labrador in your home.

Our Dog Sports - Has included Obedience, Endurance Test, and Agility, but mainly Conformation Showing. We have had the pleasure of guiding many dogs to their Australian Championship title, whether they were our own dogs or loved by others.

Our Future - We plan to attend a limited number of confirmation shows across Australia (while on holidays), but our main aim is to love having Labrador Retrievers in our home that make for wonderful family members. Bradorla Sea Star "Penne" and Aladorrb American Pop Rocks "Rocky" are our future...

The puppies are born and raised in my own family home and have their own bedroom with their Mother to ensure their safety. Both mum and dad are my family pets (plus 2 other labs) and have been with me since they were eight weeks old. I think it is important that you meet the parents and get to see the home in which they have been raised as this has contributed to their temperament and loving natures. They are not particularly big Labradors; they have long legs with fine features and a compact structure. Mum has had all her antenatal care provided by Greenbank Vet hospital www.greenbankvetsqld.com.au Mum has been primarily fed Royal Canin puppy food fresh eggs (and shells) during her pregnancy and she loves chicken necks and wings as a regular treat. Mum and Dad have been treated with oral Drontal for intestinal worms, injectable ProHeart for heart worm prevention, oral Bravecto for flea and Tick control plus annual C5 vaccination. Mum and Dad have excellent hip and elbow scoring and are full breed DNA tested and clear of inheritable diseases. It is important to me as an ethical breeder that your puppies get the best start in life by their parents having all the appropriate health surveillance pre and post conception. Small family breeder on property near Gympie.

Raised in a family environment our pups will come socialized, vaccinated, vet checked, wormed and registered with Dogs Queensland plus extras. Our aim is to breed quality, healthy and lovable pets.

Our girl Galgaba Chocolady Josani "Josie" has a lovely dark chocolate coat and loves swimming in our dams. She is gentle caring soul and is proving to be a natural mum.
Our breeding dog is
From Azgardi Labradors Aust. Ch. Sandwoodlabs Heez Gotthe Spark "Boston" is a fine specimen of a true lab. Obedient, smart, friendly, chunky and loves to chill with his family.
He has won multiple best in group ribbons at dog conformation shows.
