I was introduced to the world of purebred dogs and exhibiting at the age of nine through my mother, who successfully showed Rottweilers. Early in my show career, I was fortunate to handle a Lurikeen Shetland Sheepdog in Junior Handlers, and from that moment I knew the Shetland Sheepdog was the breed for me. My love for Border Collies developed through my time spent with my dear friend, Helena Fitzgerald, of the Bordefame prefix.
In 2001, I purchased my first Shetland Sheepdog, “Flash,” from Tooneybank Kennels, and later that same year acquired my first Lurikeen bitch. Since then, I have enjoyed considerable success exhibiting Shetland Sheepdogs and Border Collies throughout Western Australia and nationally alongside my mother, Julie Harris, with whom I proudly share the Lurikeen prefix. Together, we have bred and exhibited multiple Australian Champions, a Supreme Champion, an International Champion, numerous all-breeds Best Exhibit in Show winners, and Specialty Best in Show winners.
My involvement in the dog world has provided opportunities to travel internationally, including handling in the United States where I achieved a Best Exhibit in Show win, campaigning our home-bred dog in Singapore where he was awarded Best Exhibit in Group, and proudly representing Western Australia at the Top Dog Grand Final.
As a passionate exhibitor, breeder, and judge, I strongly believe in giving back to the sport that has provided me with so many opportunities throughout my life. Over the years, I have held committee positions with the Shetland Sheepdog Club of WA, Canine Stewards Association of WA, DogsWest Junior Handler Working Party, and the National Junior Handler Committee. I currently serve as Secretary of the Working Dog Club of WA.
I am licensed to judge the Toys, Working Dogs and Utility groups and am currently undertaking my Gundog judging training.
